About the Author

Lyn Gardner began her career writing fan fiction. In 2009, she sat down and wrote a story with no expectations other than to entertain. Three years later, at the insistence of her readers, and after listening to their praise as well as their prods, she published her first book - Ice. Now a multi-published author, Lyn lives in the sunny state of Florida where she enjoys playing a round of golf every now and then...that is, when her muse isn’t whispering in her ear. You can find out more about the author by visiting her website or her blog, or feel free to follow her on Twitter or Facebook...and by all means, say hello if you’d like. Ok, so I now know why Alex and Maggie are dead ringers for Nikki and Helen in UK TV's Bad Girls. This is fan fiction writ big. So, we have the tall, dark and handsome English girl and the other a shorter (also gorgeous), feisty Scot. Lyn Gardner seems to be an American author trying to do British, but she doesn't do it too badly. I actually really enjoyed this book, in fact I rather loved it (even on a re-read) and it's a very sensible price, so it gets 5 stars from me!

Set against a back drop of survival, this tale involves two very strong minded characters fighting to survive their own mounting feelings for each other. There's not much that they can do about the situation they find themselves in, but battling their own emotions could prove to be more damaging than the snow storm that has trapped them.

The author has done a fine job in setting out the two characters personalities early on, so that we can understand their reactions to situations as they arise. The pace of the story telling is compelling, drawing the reader into the story from the start, so that it's difficult to put the book down, and you find you don't want to. You become invested in the characters and want to see how they cope, not just with the survival aspect, but also with their inner emotions.

Descriptively, the author also hits the right note, by not dwelling on too much descriptive imagery, that can sometimes be too distracting, but keeps it to a necessary level, showing the reader, rather than telling them, of what is going on. This gives the reader the feeling they are actually watching the scenes being played out in front of them.

Ultimately, it's a story of survival and unrequited love that finally wins the battle over both. But what will happen when they are rescued?

I leave that for you to find out.

A highly recommended read & I look forward to more from this author!

Maggie Campbell and Alex Blake are both Detective Inspectors with the Metropolitan Police Service in London. England. They had worked together on a kidnapping case three years earlier. Although the case had a good outcome, the outcome for both Maggie and Alex was not good.

Maggie is a by the book, black is black and white is white detective. Alex is somewhat more of a hothead with a disregard for rules and regulations. She will do whatever it takes to solve a case, using threats of violence if necessary. This of course, doesn't go down too well with Maggie. But this isn't the sole cause of Maggie and Alex having a fight. Maggie is fighting inappropriate feelings for Alex. Feelings she thinks she shouldn't be having. She's never been attracted to a woman before and has no idea how to handle it. So Maggie provokes a fight. The fight results in suspensions for both women.

Three years go past, both Maggie and Alex take great pains to avoid one another like the plague. That is until the day comes when Interpol requests the services of Maggie and Alex to act as decoys. All they have to do is to take a plane ride, destination unknown.

Unfortunately, nothing is simple and tragically their plane crashes in the middle of nowhere in a raging blizzard. Their pilot is killed. Maggie is really sick and Alex is injured. Alex has to fight against all odds to find a way to keep them both alive. Will she succeed?

This book was an unexpected gem of a find. It was really well written and an absolute page turner from the first page right through to the very last. I simply couldn't put this down until I knew the outcome.

This is a story of survival against a back drop of ice and freezing temperatures.

I read this in two goes due to need for sleep and food ect. This book is very exciting and kept me on high alert all the way to the end. Alex is just amazing, the things she does for her Maggie was heart wrenching. Many times I was thinking, "how is she going to keep them going?"

This is a fantastic story of survival and love between two people who absolutely hated each other, or so they would have themselves believe.

I was drawn to Alex first because she was so strong and you can just imagine how far she will actually go to keep Maggie alive. Its amazing and the set up is really thrilling. The second the crash happened I just knew that I was going to be up all night reading and I was right. I got something like 4 hours sleep. Even when I finally decided to let myself sleep I had to fight not to turn the light back on and grab the book.

Read this, you wont regret it. It has all the usual formula, the jokes and laughs(though a more serious toned story for a lot of it), the heartbreak (bathtub scene had me shaking a bit) and of course the wonderful sex scenes, not too much not too little. I love the struggle that they both go through at the end of the book, it was very easy to sympathise with the fear of just saying it out loud ect. Then they were like, screw this. Brilliant.
I will certainly be keeping an eye on Lyn Gardner - She has turned my head.
