this book gives the reader a perfect insight into the minds of both ian rankin and his superb creation john rebus,as you read on the difference between the two becomes more and more blurred.im of the opinion that ian rankin is a frustrated detective inspectorwho brings his own persona out in his creation.

The book related Rebus to Rankin and compared likenesses. Perhaps I should have expected that, but I couldn't agree. I shall pass it on.

Book was ok but found in a little dry, seemed to concentrate to much on Ian Rankin's earlier books @ the start of his career
