I did extensive research online of pool heaters before choosing to buy this one. I'm so glad I did, as it works really well and costs a fraction of the price of any others on the market. As previous reviewers have said, it won't super heat the pool, but it does take the chill off and makes it a much more pleasant experience. I run mine for about 4 hours each morning and it raises the water temperature by about 10 degrees Fahrenheit in that time (I have a 10ft Intex pool). However, I do use mine in conjunction with a pool cover. I would definitely recommend this product.

I bought this product in ignorance. So this is a ...'with the benefit of hindsight..' (and research I should have done pre purchase)review.

Firstly, pool heaters work very differently to say, an electric shower or an instantaneous water heater. The water is fed back into the pool about .5c warmer than when it when it entered the heater. If you put your hand over the external flow from the heater I'll bet you can't detect any 'warming'. It will take a good few hours of incremental warming to raise the overall pool temperature.

Secondly, if you think about it 3kw is not that much. My 12' pool holds about 5,200 litres of water. Truly, that's a lot of water to heat. And of course, as you are heating it, the pool will be losing heat! Over and above a certain temperature that heat loss can almost equal the heat you are creating through the heater.

I can well imagine that on a good warm day, in the right wind conditions and with a good pool cover, this heater would do nicely. But....and it's a BIG BUT.... Such days on our windswept rock in the North Atlantic are few and far between. So expect about a 1c improvement after 2-3 hours heat on an average day.

I would still give it four stars, because it does work. Just don't expect miracles.

So, if like me, you didn't pay attention when the physics teacher was banging on about Fourier's Law for heat conduction, you will have purchased one of these pool heaters and paid an expensive price for sleeping through physics lessons!

Our pool heater was delivered very promptly, and has been in constant use. We have been able to have temperatures of 28-30 degrees - FANTASTIC!Wish we had bitten the bullet earlier as the pool was hardly used last year. Now we cannot keep out of it!The only drawback is the extremely short lead which has made it problematical. Apart from that, it is WELL worth the money.

Bought this product and it arrived very quickly which was good. I opened the box, set up and attached the heater to the pools filter system and then I tried to plug it in but the plug did not reach my door, the lead was surprisingly short considering the heater is suited for an OUTDOOR above ground pool. I use an extension lead for the filter but in the heaters instructions it said that we shouldn't use an extension lead. But I did anyway. so i had my filter and heater running off the one extension i had. And when i switched them all on the filter wasn't working as well as before i plugged the heater in, it wasn't as powerful. the heater turned on and the water seemed to start warming but the filter wasn't functioning properly so i found another extension lead and plugged the heater into it. Now the filter was working perfectly and when i turned the heater on after 5mins it cut out so we reset the plug and turned it on again and after 5mins it cut out again. So we realised that we cant use it with an extension lead.
they should really make the plug longer.

Fitted very easily using pipes in line with the pump. The product is absolutely fine but running costs are relatively high (as you would expect from a 3KW heater) so it is expensive if you plan to heat your pool for long periods of time and unless the ambient temperature is >20C and the nights remain warm it takes a long time to get the pool to a "nice" temperature - usually 24-48 hours (which could cost around £5-10/day depending on tarrifs). So we tend to heat specially for children's parties etc or if we know the forecast is good just to raise the temperature by a few degrees.

The thing to remember about heating a swimming pool is that it isnt like boiling a pan of water and it takes a few days to reach the ideal temperature of around 28-30deg C. Alot of people make the mistake of expecting the pool water to be at a tropical temperature after a couple of hours and this will not happen without spending around one thousand pounds on a pool heater for your £150 swimming pool.

We have an 18ft round pool that is 4ft deep and holds approx 20,000 litres of water. This little 3kw heater raised the temperature around 2degrees C per day with the help of a solar cover. When we switched the heater off the water temp dropped by approx 1 degree C per day. So basically, once youve hit the desired temperature you can switch the heater off and switch it on for approx 3days per week to keep your water between 25 & 30deg C.

Not only is this a great little heater but its also the cheapest of its kind on the market. It says in the product description that its for pools up to 15ft diameter but as ive said, ours is 18ft and it does a fantastic job. I have no hesitation in recommending this heater. 5 starts all round - Brilliant!!
