... because you're going to want to bang your head on it!

I have had this on pre-order for quite a while, and have been eagerly awaiting delivery. It finally arrived today.

Chickenfoot have a very distinctive sound - I can't describe it other than to say it really does fill your ears and your head. The opening bars of this disc are enough to confirm that they have not lost this one bit. There are real thumping head-banging tracks, there are some slower ones, but they are all brilliant, nothing coming remotely anywhere near "a duff 'un".

The package is also interesting. It comes in an A4-sized wallet, and accompanying the disc is an interesting full colour magazine, and rather quirkily, some 3D photos (and more in the magazine) and a pair of 3D glasses for viewing them. All in all, a nice little collectors/souvenir package, if you are in to that kind of thing. There is also a weird pattern on the CD itself, and I wondered if it might also be a 3D image, so I looked through the glasses at it. No such luck. But then I closed my right eye... ;-)

Almost forgot - for all you budding Satriani's out there, there's a pack of Chickenfoot plectrums too!

I have to keep checking when Sammy Hagar was born, because I just can't believe it. The power and range in his voice is just stunning, and yet this time next year he'll be picking up his bus-pass. Astounding.

Wrapping up the 10 new tracks are two live versions of tracks off the previous album. A nice bonus, but it is the new material that really counts.

A long awaited sequel, and a very worthy one. I can't pick a best track because I've only listened once, and they are ALL in the running. This band is now confirmed as no flash in the pan, if there was ever any doubt.

I am a fan of Van Halen with David and with Sammy, I bought both new CD's and I have to say: This album is way better than the VH album, The VH CD has some songs that start with really strange unpleasant sounds! If you are going to put filler songs at least don't make them so bad I have to change it!

I can't say there are any filler songs on the Chickenfoot III

- Awsome band
- Great songs
- Good job Sammy, I don't see any tour dates for the UK, it's not that far away!

I really liked the first Chickenfoot album, particularly as Mr Satriani was straightjacketed into tight numbers which constricted his style somewhat but this added to, rather than detracted!
So, here we have the dreaded (for some!) second album, which can leave many artists floundering to find their feet after the success of their debut - and is it any good? Well, yes and no (a rather balanced answer, I know!) - but the opening two tracks are enough to have you reaching for the "eject" button! Bland and lacking anything worthy of such musicians and even played in a rather lacklustre way! In fact, I was so disappointed that I then started flicking tracks to find anything I liked, and immediately found it - it starts at track three with "Different Devil" a Stones reminiscent, laid back rocker with Mr Hagar's vocal back on track and this then continues through to the end of the album...including the towering riffs and the full force of the band on the mighty "Big Foot" and "Dubai Blues" with everyone playing as though they meant every note....brilliant!
However, for a band as talented as they evidently are, to start an album with two numbers so lacking in any quality is not good - particularly in these austere times when we, the buying public expect VFM...it can be done, witness Siren's Song from The Union (also, their 2nd album) and you will see precisely what I mean.
Mention should also be made of placing a set of 3D glasses into the album sleeve and glueing the sleeve down to stop them falling out - which makes for a very tricky opening to avoid damaging the digipack sleeve - is not clever either, just gimmicky,(although I see the thinking on from the original album's heat sensitive "skin" - which was "original") and gimmicks do not replace quality music - ever!
All in all then, not a bad album, but if the next album isn't an absolute killer, then I for one, will vote with my wallet!

/|\ ... Chickenfoot is the band that I am enjoying today way too much listening to like any albums I did in the 80s walking around town like a rocker with long hair, torn jeans and boots. Supergroup and the big guys in one of the concert said that they wanna do the music that they grew up listening to. And that's what they are exactly doing in this fun-loving band.

When you see their concert videos, you can tell guys are doing something from the bottom of their heart. To me, Chickenfoot is something like Van Halen or Sammy and Michael with the new guitarist Joe. Or Joe with new singer Sammy. Kinda Van Halen with Satch Tone. Or Satch with Van Halen style. Don't know.

I loved Chickenfoot from their first album Chickenfoot. This album is equally good as their debut album. What is unique about this album is the CD is made in 3D style and you need 3D glasses (included) to go through the cover and booklet. Such a brilliant concept.

Chickenfoot rocks ... /|\
