I liked the first book. This one is better.
Kane, is hired to help a woman who has just returned to Boston from visiting relatives in the Philippines. Whilst awaiting for her aunt, to collect her from the airport. One of her suitcases is stolen.
Why that item? Why of all the luggage, it had to be the one she has been asked to transport to her aunt. The auntie, in question is not aware she was required to pick up anyone from the airport.
So, what are the contents of that suitcase? Narcotics? Probably. Surely, a job for the police? Is the client just an innocent bystander? Or is she involved with organised crime?
The last time out in Forget Me Not. Kane, solved the disputes in respect of an inheritance. He also found out a lot more associated with it. In a small way he can be thankful to his secretary. The lovely Lucy. His close friend and near neighbour.
Each book tells a different story but there is a continuous theme between them, there are references in each book to things that have happened before. The main characters are beautifully described and I can picture them as they almost come to life and this makes me believe that the characters are real. Mark and Lucy are both very likable characters and the dialog and dynamics between them helps to lighten the tension because each book deals with serious subjects, death, murder, kidnapping, blackmail, deceit and plenty humour. Several of the characters re - appear in the books, Kane’s brother Duncan also appears in two of the books, but only on the phone. He runs a survivalist school in Vermont wilderness, for people who want to survive in dangerous places like war zones. I’ve a feeling that he could re- appear in one of the books sooner or later. All the books in this series are well plotted and well ended. An added bonus is that the author has published the first 5 chapters of each book on his website so you can read them first to see whether it’s your choice of book. The Author even lets you read the first few chapters of his 5th book which hasn't been published yet.
I think it’s best to read the books in order because the first book is an excellent introduction to the characters Mark (Private Investigator) and Lucy. The writer is able to evoke tension, suspense and an abundance of humour in his books, as well as some tearful moments, I think that all the books are an excellent read and I congratulate him. Five stars. More please
I find the characters very similar to Saul good man in better call Saul , don't ask why but that's how I picture Kane . This story is about a lady who has a suitcase stolen from outside the airport and the consequences that follow. I read this in a night and I'm sure it's a lot shorter than the first book. I shall be watching for more from this author.
