Having bought every book I could get my hands on after my IBS was diagnosed after 15 years of illness I can honestly say that this is the only one that worked for me, and really made sense from start to finish. The eating guidelines do differ from all the other books, but if like me you've found that the prevailing advice - based around a high fibre diet - had actually been making the problem worse, then everything will at last make sense when you read this book. (The key is to make sure you eat the right type of fibre - an absolutely crucial distinction I've never seen made elsewhere).
Quite simply, this book has changed my life. Actually, while I believe it is the only book you'll really *need* to help you live with IBS, you can almost make a virtue out of the condition if you get a copy of Van Vorous's cookbook as well, 'Eating for IBS' - really delicious, easy recipes that make sticking to the eating guidelines a pleasure.

Finally, a book that isn't filled full of doom and gloom and depair for IBS sufferers - the author Heather Van Vorous is herself a sufferer of IBS and her book makes you feel as if there is light at the end of the tunnel.
When I was diagnosed with IBS I wasn't actually told what it was or how to live with it - this book has answered many of the questions that I had, and continues to be of great support to me.

This book was bought for me just under a year ago. Simply put, it has changed my life.

If you have IBS you simply *must* buy it. If you know someone with IBS, you *must* buy it for them. The five key strategies she outlines for dealing with IBS are absolute gold and are worth paying *whatever* they are charging for this book on their own.

This is not the usual rubbish you've read about IBS, nor is it a miracle cure. Its a dependable, versatile strategy that gives you the ability to change your life.

Having being diagnosed with IBS, I was frustrated that my GP couldn't really give me any useful help on how to deal with it except to eat more fibre. I decided to trawl the internet and came across this book. Having read some reviews, I decided to give it a try and I'm glad that I did. The information in this book is both useful and informative and have given me the ability not only cope with the symptoms of IBS but to help to reduce them to very few.

My advice BUY THIS BOOK.

I've suffered with IBS for almost 7 years. After going through the GP/gastroenterologist route twice, firstly 5 years ago with no resulting diagnosis and again 3 years ago just to get my IBS diagnosis without any treatment plan I took things into my own hands. After keeping a food diary for the next 2 years and giving up wheat/gluten and dairy just to see some improvements I finally read about soluble fibre supplements and picked up Heather's Acacia Tummy Fibre and this excellent book.

So much of this book rings true with my own experiences of IBS and the dietary plan highlights many things I've long suspected make my symptoms worse (carbonated drinks, alcohol, red meat etc.). Moreover it comprehensively covers many other areas for you to try including exercise, stress management and medication (after all everyone responds differently to different things).

Heather's book is a tremendous support for sufferers and one of the best resources I've found about IBS in the 6 years I've suffered. I wish I'd found this years ago and it's a shame my GP/gastroenterologist didn't recommend it with my eventual diagnosis.

A must for anyone suffering from IBS who doesn't know where to start in controlling their symptoms!

This book really helped me.. I've always been a health conscious but with my ibs found that I couldn't eat anything healthy anymore..being always on the road and meeting new people, I had my stress levels to the roof..but this book helped me settle the problem and I have it under control now. I do keep it as a reference.
