Quite simply, this book has changed my life. Actually, while I believe it is the only book you'll really *need* to help you live with IBS, you can almost make a virtue out of the condition if you get a copy of Van Vorous's cookbook as well, 'Eating for IBS' - really delicious, easy recipes that make sticking to the eating guidelines a pleasure.
When I was diagnosed with IBS I wasn't actually told what it was or how to live with it - this book has answered many of the questions that I had, and continues to be of great support to me.
If you have IBS you simply *must* buy it. If you know someone with IBS, you *must* buy it for them. The five key strategies she outlines for dealing with IBS are absolute gold and are worth paying *whatever* they are charging for this book on their own.
This is not the usual rubbish you've read about IBS, nor is it a miracle cure. Its a dependable, versatile strategy that gives you the ability to change your life.
My advice BUY THIS BOOK.
So much of this book rings true with my own experiences of IBS and the dietary plan highlights many things I've long suspected make my symptoms worse (carbonated drinks, alcohol, red meat etc.). Moreover it comprehensively covers many other areas for you to try including exercise, stress management and medication (after all everyone responds differently to different things).
Heather's book is a tremendous support for sufferers and one of the best resources I've found about IBS in the 6 years I've suffered. I wish I'd found this years ago and it's a shame my GP/gastroenterologist didn't recommend it with my eventual diagnosis.
A must for anyone suffering from IBS who doesn't know where to start in controlling their symptoms!
