About the Author

Jack Wallen is the new name in horror. His works span genres and weave evil, conspiracy, and fear into nightmarish worlds. Jack has been given the title "Zombie King" by his readers and fans. He didn't garner that title by dining on the brains of helpless victims. It was only after writing until his fingers and mind were nothing but meat for the beasts that he became a master of the zombie genre. During that haunted hay ride Jack produced works of fiction enjoyable by not just zombie fans, but anyone daring to take a peek into what might possibly become of humanity. Of course, being of the insane writer clan, Jack isn't just happy with the penning of zombie fiction. Oh no, the nightmare does not end there. Like the late, great Freddy Mercury, Jack wants it all -- so, he will continue twisting the horror genre to meet his disturbed mind as well as write his Fringe Killer and Screampark series, and his joyous celebration of all things diverse -- Shero. For his inspiration to begin reading and writing, Jack thanks the ever-incredible Clive Barker for penning in a genre with words of grace and horror.

Beautiful, funny and well written. A tale of the beginning of a zombie apocalypse with a mad scientist, a journalist, a computer hacker and a young girl. We start with Jacob and follow his journey thru the apocalypse collecting survivors as he goes. Full of funny one liners and pop culture references this story was hard to put down.

Edited to add this is my first Jack Wallen novel and it wont be my last.

Wow what a brilliant zombie novel and one with a twist or two!

Jacob Plummer is our main character, a journalist in Germany to cover the unveiling of a machine that will save our resources. However Jacob awakes to a blast and a world unlike anything he could have imagined. As a journalist he keeps a log of everything he experiences along the way.

The book goes at a pretty good pace, lots of gore to satisfy our horror fans and a few funnies along the way (along with blood, guts, gore and even budding relationships). Jacob finds himself flung into hero, survivalist and leader mode before having to make some tough decisions for the sake of himself and the survivors along the way.

What I really liked about this zombie movie is we have a how and a why to the outbreak and I have read many many zombies books and only one before this gave this. I could hardly put it down, definately for me a page turner and I will be buying the next installment when it is out. a 4 out of 5 for me.

I Zombie I starts with a bang, literally right from the first line `The blast ripped through the air, stopping all time and thought'. So from the get-go, if you can't stand the long wind up at the beginning of some Zombie novels, this book will appeal to you.

Jacob, a reporter, is awoken by the bang and the subsequent obliteration of most of the human population. Unfortunately, the human population reanimates and is quickly roaming the streets of Munich, looking for lunch....

This book has some good elements that aren't the standard zombie fare - there are different types of zombies, a mad scientist and a very likable feisty red-head female lead who is pretty damn impressive in her knowledge and ability - a top choice to be with during the Zombie apocalypse.

And my favourite part of all is, you'll never guess the ending.

A well written book and I'll certainly be reading the next installment!

I really, truly enjoyed this book. Particle physics, a crazy scientist with a doomsday machine, zombies roaming the streets of Munich hungry for brains. What's not to like?

I thought the story had a unique twist to the telling, as well. It sucked me right into the middle of the zombie apocalypse and I could hardly put it down.

The formatting issues mentioned by other reviewers have now been fixed. There were also a couple of plot points that seemed to be unfinished, but I'm assuming that's because this is the first of the trilogy, so I look forward to seeing them answered.

All in all I consider this a great read and highly recommend it. I'm very much looking forward to the next in the series.

I read this as a recommendation from a friend, and it is one of the most interesting Zombie apocalypse books i've read, and it really starts with a bang. We start at the very start, and follow the protagonists journey of discovery through the newly apocalyptic world discovering varied types of Zombies, The writing is fantastically desctiptive of the harrowing world in which we are found but there is also plenty of room for your imagination to run riot and drag you into the really well thought out plot, through to an unexpected end.

you are left wanting more, but only because you want to read more of these likeable characters in this great world.
