The MS02 Smart Scan from Hyundai is a true professional. Thanks to the built-in lithium-ion battery and Bluetooth technology this pocket-sized scanner will scan and transfer information to your smartphone, tablet or PC in a flash.
The Smart Scan has an A4 colour contact image sensor which has been specifically designed to facilitate a hand-held scanning device. With a standard resolution of 300dpi, you can produce perfect images of graphics or text to view on your PC. Or you can choose to capture images at the higher resolution of 600dpi which will provide you with files good enough for printing the finest detail.
Whether you are copying a page from your favourite book or a beautiful photograph you can choose to scan in either colour or monochrome. Both the resolution and the choice of colour will affect the scanning speed, but only by a few seconds. Scanning an A4 page in black and white at 300dpi takes approximately 2 seconds whereas scanning in colour at 600dpi can take around 8 seconds. Either way, with this kind of speed your documents will be digitised in an instant and data can be saved in either JPEG or PDF format. Scans are stored on MicroSD card, and cards of up to 32GB capacity are supported. Depending on the settings chosen, up to 1280 images can be stored per gigabyte.
How it Works
The Smart Scan is simple to operate. There is a button in the centre that starts the scanning process while two buttons on the side of the scanner control the colour and resolution modes. Once you are ready to scan, you simply move the scanner across the object to be scanned and the image is automatically saved to your MicroSD card. If you move the scanner across the object too quickly a red LED illuminates to indicate that you need to repeat the process at a slower pace. And if the scanner is not used for 3 minutes it will automatically switch itself off to save battery power. Once your documents have been scanned it is a simple matter to transfer them to your Bluetooth-enabled PC, mobile phone or tablet for storage or sharing. If your PC doesn’t have Bluetooth capability then transfers can be made using the USB cable supplied instead.
The Mobile Solution
At less than 27cm long and only weighing around 140g including the battery, the scanner is perfectly portable, fitting comfortably in your briefcase or laptop bag. A carrying pouch is provided and there is a cleaning cloth for keeping the glass scanning shield clear. Using the supplied ABBYY FineReader software you can even transfer text into programmes such as MS Word and edit it.
The Hyundai MS02 Smart Scan with wireless Bluetooth technology is the ideal accessory for working or studying on the move.
 A MicroSD card (not included) is required for operation as the scanner has no internal memory.

True to a degree, but this is so simple and effective there really is no reason not to have one at this price point. It comes in a handy bag to keep it clean and easily fits in the front pouch of my briefcase.
To use you simply turn it on and slowly pull it over the item you want to scan. You can save it off as a jpg or PDF and then either blue tooth or plug it into the USB port and download the files. For my mac I didn't even need to use the disc, just plugged it in and it worked.
I literally use it all the time now. True, the image quality is just average, but more than adequate for what I need.
A really handy little gadget.
This will be invaluable for storing and transferring important hard copies of documents into a digital repository for safekeeping. (Copies of passport, driving licence, Insurances, etc).
Set up was very easy. You'll need to buy a Micro SD card for it to work. . I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to hold it steady enough or the quality would be poor but its actually very good indeed.
I am most excited because now I can take this when I visit family and easily and simply scan old family photographs that usually I would never get a chance to copy because the owner didn't want them leaving the house. I will be bringing this on a trip to overseas when I meet the relatives to scan in and share precious photos of my Mum and Dad, Aunts and Uncles when they were younger.
Sizewise, I cannot believe how small and light this is. It easily fits into a handbag or small briefcase and weighs hardly anything at all and the quality if very good indeed. It is charged via a usb wire via your PC or you can buy an USB adapter wall plug from Amazon for a few pounds. (You may already have this if you have an adapter for an iphone or Blackberry)
This is a fabulous piece of kit. Very Practical, easy to store and carry, well worth having and good for the home or light use business user. 5 well deserved stars
Although some people I work with (such as the larger book publishers) now use e-signatures, most will not even begin the payment process unless they see a fax or scanned attachment, complete with that signature. This is where the main usefulness of the Hyundai comes in for me.
I can also scan meeting notes as original handwritten pages on the train back from a meeting (so no need to type them up with Word), scan them on the Hyundai and email them from my HTC using Gmail. Also, photocopying for personal use is a thing of the past - just scan and Bluetooth to my tablet (I can see this being useful for students who need to copy sections of library books for reference material).
Good things about the scanner
It fits easily in my laptop bag, and if I don't need the laptop, it plays well with my Android tablet and smartphone.
The Bluetooth scan transfer works flawlessly with everything I have tried it with (but you may have long transfer time for 600dpi A4).
You have to be trying really hard before scanned documents become illegible.
Colour rendition is good, so you can easily use this to scan the odd page from a magazine or brochure.
Bad things about the scanner:
It comes with a non-UK plug (but you can just as easily charge it up using a micro-USB to USB cable (included).
There is no way to delete scans via the scanner - you have to either mount it as a hard drive and delete that way, or remove the SD card and delete its contents via another device.Read more ›
It's worth mentioning that you will need a separate Micro SD card (not included) in order to store images and an adapter plug if you don't want to charge it via your PC - but iPhone and other USB plugs seem to work just as well.

Portable - compact & lightweight device (although a pocket might be on the optimistic side for most, in my opinion!)
COLOUR : Black with Silver finish
Approximate measurements of the scanner:
* 25.75 cm x 2 cm x 2 cm
The scanner arrived well packaged in a box measuring around 31.5 cm x 14 cm x 5 cm, also containing:
* a drawstring pouch to keep the scanner safe and clean
* cleaning cloth
* USB cable
* calibration instructions (although this is replicated in the user manual)
* a multi-lingual user manual (which includes a troubleshooting guide)
* Scan-size : A4
* Scanner : Portable
* Scanformat : JPEG/PDF
* USB 2.0
* MicroSD support
* Bluetooth function
* 600/300 dpi scan selection
* Directly saves JPEG/PDF files to MicroSD cards
* Bundle with OCR software
* Supports MicroSD cards up to 32 GB
* Driver installation not required for Windows XP SP3/Vista/7 and Mac 10.4 or higher
For the scanner to capture images you need to obtain a MicroSD memory card as this is not included with the device. This is not clear on the box and was only apparent after reading the operating instructions. This also meant the device could not be used immediately as I had to arrange the separate purchase of a suitable card.
Personally, I found setting up the device a bit fiddly, as all the buttons on the scanner are quite small so nimble fingers are required.Read more ›

Very sleek wand scanner, comes with a carry pouch but not a microSD card - which is necessary for scanning.
Option for either JPEG or PDF output with high or low quality. Read more
came with bluetooth funcion broken. sending it back almost the cost of the thing itself.
Quality is ok-ish for a handheld.
Well, I was skeptical as to how good the scan will look like considering the way you scan a document using this little gadget. I found that it works and operation is simple. Read morePublished on 19 Dec. 2012 by Andy K
