A no fuss lawn mower ideally suited for small to medium sized lawns up to approximately 20 x 20 m. The Hyundai HYM40P has a cutting width of 400 mm and is powered by the Hyundai 99 cc 4-stroke OHV petrol engine. It not only delivers cutting power but also low levels of noise and fuel consumption to minimise disruption and keep running.
It’s easy starting petrol engine has the option to place the pull start towards the top of the main handles which eliminates the need to bend down when starting it. With three cutting heights ranging from 25 mm for a smooth lawn to 75 mm for cutting long grass, the HYM40P puts you in control over the finish of your cut. The height is adjusted by individual wheel settings. With a strong polypropylene moulded deck, your mower will remain free from rust and corrosion.
It’s quick and easy to assemble out of the box, allowing you to get it in your garden and mowing in no time at all and with low maintenance requirements. The capacious quick release 40 L polyester grass catcher bag allows you to spend less time emptying the cuttings and more time mowing. Attaching and removing the collection bag couldn't be simpler and this allows you to dispose of the cuttings quickly and conveniently.
For increased comfort, this petrol lawn mower features a soft grip handle, which reduces fatigue when mowing large lawns. The OPC (operator presence control) safety lever will ensure that the engine stops if you let go of the handle. The handles also fold down over the engine, which makes this compact lawn mower easy to store in a garden shed, garage an easy to load into a car. Weighing just 18.5 kg, this is one of the light petrol lawn mowers on the market, which is essential for hand push models to minimise fatigue and maximise manoeuvrability. It also means it can be lifted into the car boot with relative ease.
Please note: The Hyundai HYM40P is designed as a basic lightweight economy petrol lawn mower. In order to keep weight to a minimum the height adjustment is set by positioning each wheel in one of three available axle positions. This makes adjusting to different heights a slow process. However once the preferred height has been chosen there is very little need to change the height.

They supplied a really nice glossy A3 document detailing some of the features but no instructions on how to put it together.
Its not that difficult for me, it took a few minutes to work out but older non technical people might need help.
That aside, its everything I hoped.
I can store it without issue but somehow expected it to be a lot smaller being the smallest model, my fault for not measuring it out.
Something to check if you have a lot in your shed because it has to be transported and stored flat, it shouldnt be tipped up unless the fuel is drained (same for all petrol mowers).
Its extremely sturdy and well made.
Very simple and comfortable to operate and the low weight is marvellous.
It started on the third pull of the starter (after priming), great for a first start.
I mounted the wheels on the centre cutting height.
It cut my medium long grass with ease and the result was quite short I thought,
It did a much better job than I did with my shears and took minutes, job done.
I have wooden edges on one side of my lawn and it cut the grass right up to the wood. Just a few blades needed trimming.
Better than I expected.
It was easy to brush out the left over grass from the underside because it is so light. But being petrol I forgot not to tip it too far and spilt a bit.
The only issue I had was mounting the grass catcher. It kept catching on the ground and falling off.
There are small bars to mount it on, I was using the top of the opening as the mount points.
Once mounted properly, it stayed put no matter what I did.
Overall I'm more than happy with it, amazing value for £120.
The only faults were mine apart from the build instructions.
I'll update if there are any issues.
Assembly took no more than half and hour - I just had to attach the wheels and handles (tools are supplied; they're not great, but they work). After that I just put some oil and petrol in and I was good to go.
Starting is easy (just followed the instructions) and it just runs fine.
Some reviewers have pointed out the lack of a quick height adjustment (you have to remove and replace the wheels to do this) but I rarely, if ever, adjust the height anyway, so that's a non-issue for me. If you want to adjust the height often then don't buy this model.
I wish the grass collection box was a bit bigger, but it's easy enough to empty and the mower starts up again easily.
All in all, a good buy and I'd recommend it.
Now for the Bad News. Very similar to previous reviewers. The mower initially performed well (very noisy), for THREE grass cuts. I have a small garden, not a field. Then Machine started becoming unreliable, backfiring, spluttering, ceasing to work. As it was the end of year for grass cutting, I thought empty the oil and petrol and put it away and start afressh this year. My son refilled the mower with petrol and fuel. Surprise, surprise mower ran for approximately 20 seconds and cut out. My son then carried out all the troubleshooting aspects. Checked carburator, dust filter etc. Then obtained fresh fuel from a neighbour and changed the fuel again. The neighbour has a petrol mower he has had for 10 years, bought from Lidl and performs without any trouble.
Mower still cutting out after 20 seconds. It is a known fact that bad unleaded petrol is not a myth. Fouled fuel found in a vehicle tank can usually be linked to a few suspects — it either came from the refinery, the distributor or the filling station down the street.
Genpower Ltd will arrange for collection of goods within the 1st year of the warranty, but be aware that if the fault is discovered not to be a warranty fault, transportation, handling and workshop labour charges will apply.
So if I have been unlucky enough to have 'bad fuel' Genpower Ltd will probably end up charging me the cost of labour and transportation.
In conclusion, I wish I had never wasted my precious funds on such a piece of junk and paid more attention to negative reviews for this mower which from the growing number of negative reviews is giving Hyundai a negative reputation.
Check out the 17% negative reviews which nearly all land in 2017/18 not the positive reviews from years back.
