- gravel vocals, leans heavily on picking plucking acoustic sound, dark and light feel - there is something 'unearthed' and 'real' about the album.
short but a great alt-country album, it's different - whitmore seems to get at a thoughtful darker 'country' sound, he (thankfully) avoids the aesthetic somewhat self parodying nature of the hoo-ha nonsense that forms the basis of the genre.
he has a cool handlebar too,

5.0 out of 5 stars A journey through despair and back 9 Jun. 2013

This album is a devastating yet beautiful depiction of loss of loved ones and contemplating your own mortality. Each song made me want to cry, but by the end I was crying from hope. The saddest song is "Pine Box". The preceding songs made my emotions raw, but "Pine Box" delivered the killing blow. The rest of the album pulled me out of sadness gradually. The final song "Our Paths Will Cross Again" represents the healing process after loosing a loved one. After the song is over, there is a very silly hidden track that sounds like it was just him and his friends fooling around. At this point, I was thankful for some silliness. :)

His music makes me feel all...raw and organic and exposed. Listening to him is like auditory freedom from the musical prison that is today's current "music".
