Now its purchased and installed I can report that it seems well made, is easy to install as long as you mark up the third fixing hole with the heater suspended from the first two and the cover is a snug but simple fit. The colour is a nice clean white as shown in the picture. It has an internal switch to select 1 or 2KW of heat and has an adjustable thermostat to turn it down to 1KW at the preset temperature. The thermostat adjustment is only accessible with the cover off (For safety reasons?) so a bit of trial and error will be required when winter arrives to get to its optimum setting.
It would be useful if there was a switch that set it permanently to 1KW and reconfigured the thermostat to turn the heater on and off so controlling the room air temperature. Including a paper fixing template would also be very helpful.
Having said all that, it works well in our fairly small bathroom set to 1KW and is quiet enough. What more can you want for less than £25?
The real patience is required in ) getting the front panel off, it needs to be carefully prised off with a flat head screw driver ( that is of course after already removing the two tiny holding crews) unfortunately, getting the front panel back on and lined back up for the tiny screws really needs for you to have a can of beer to hand for relaxation purposes.
Other than that I've got HEAT back in the bathroom and it doesn't keep "tripping" out all the time after five minutes use, as the Dimplex did.
I wanted the heaters for porches so noise wouldn't have been a major issue but I am very pleadsed to say mine arnt at all noisy and work an absolute treat.
Very happy with product
My only criticisms are
1: the front cover has to be removed to get at the thermostat, and
2: the front cover is difficult to replace (pushing screws into blind holes which are hard to match up). Cross-headed screws would help.
What is more serious is safety issues. The description still mentions a pull cord but there is no cord on this model. So is it safe to use the control knobs in a bathroom which might be full of steam? The product information says the heater must be mounted higher than 1.8 metres but the instruction manual I received says lower than 1.8 metres! If this is a safety issue the sellers need to get their act together. What's more, the selector knob is near the top of the heater, which could be difficult for some people to reach.
I've given it three stars because it seems to be solidly constructed and is so far working well, but I wonder if I've been too generous.
