BUY. THIS. BOOK.
Finally a book that encapsulates everything I love about a contemporary romance read! I was engrossed from start to finish. The simplistic style of writing from these two authors and I mean simplistic in the highest of regards is just what I needed to pull me back into a genre that unfortunately I have become bored with. I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish. I couldn't even distinguish which author wrote what part as it was that good. I am so sick of reading books where the female lead is pregnant from the first kiss...with so much drama, angst and unnecessary situations just because. Hustler was like a breath of fresh air.
A plot that flowed with effortless ease, cleverly combining, witty, humourous lines that were sharp, to the point and left me turning pages faster than I could spell my own name! It felt so real boy meets girl...girl and boy dislike each (yeah that old chestnut), girl and boy both want in each others pants...you get the drift. It gave me the warm and fuzzie's for sure, I couldn't help but sit there with butterflies in my stomach and a stupid arse grin on my face.
Primary and secondary characters were equally as entertaining which is something that rarely happens in books for me. Gavin and Penelope were characters that I instantly fell in love with. Their chemistry was off the charts hot and they bounced off of each other...literally. I'm not sure who was responsible for writing which characters but again they had depth, personality and were likable.Read more ›
A traumatic incident surrounding his dad's death and his relationships with women has left Gavin emotionally damaged and unavailable. He's a confirmed bachelor and he's more than happy to be known as player on and off the poker table. He also uses the tricks his dad passed down to him to manipulate women to his advantage and he has 100% success rate until he meets Penelope.
Penelope, Nell to her friends always had one dream in life from a young age, to perform in the stunning acrobatics displays in Vegas. Her parents struggled financially to support their daughter all her life, Now Penelope wants to make her dream career come true and be able to take care of her parents as they have taken care of her. Penelope carries a lot of guilt for everything her parents sacrificed.
As soon as Nell and Gavin meet the chemistry is there as soon they set eyes on each, but Nell is nothing like the girls that Gavin is used to.
I loved the interactions between Penelope and Gavin would go from from hot-tempered to hot desires. I loved the way they would both challenge each other, and would keep each constantly on their toes but there was such a chemistry between the 2 of them.
I totally fell for Gavin! What's not to love? A successful, clever, top of his game, alpha male that looks like a male model and actually has the Fifty Shades series on his book shelf! Need I say more?
The other characters are also entertaining and I love how Paige and Nell interact, it's tear jerkingly hilarious to say the least. Please let there be a novel exploring what's going on between Paige and Graham! I need this in my life!
Fabulous work ladies!
Gavin the world's number one poker player, raised within the poker world and taught to keep his emotions completely locked down in every situation. He is virtually impossible to read, hence the necessary insight gained from his inner monologues. Gavin has been living with the intent to prove to the world he isn't like his infamous father. His amazing observational skills are fantastic to witness and could be applied to so many different careers if only Gavin could get past the blocks he has placed on himself. A traumatic incident surrounding his father's death and relationships with women has left Gavin emotionally damaged and unavailable. That is until he is challenged by Penelope (Nell).
Penelope has had a single focus in life from a young age, to perform in the stunning acrobatics displays in Vegas. Her parents struggled financially to support her all her life, Penelope wants to establish her dream career and be able to take care of her parents as they have taken care of her. Penelope carries a lot of guilt for everything her parents sacrificed in order for her to pursue her dreams. Getting her big break has proved a lot harder than Penelope first thought and unfortunately, the narrative highlights the indisputable fact it isn't just what you know but who you know that helps get your foot in the door.
The interactions between Penelope and Gavin range from hot-tempered to hot desires. Both of them challenged with the other, kept constantly on their toes and yet unexpectedly connected at the same time. Their relationship is refreshing and balanced in unexpected ways.Read more ›
