About the Author

With her first title with Mills & Boon, No Longer Forbidden?, a Book of the Month pick, Dani Collins is a promising new author. In love with stories about love, her journey to publication took many side streets. Thus she offers a variety in her stories from intensely emotional and passionate, to epic fantasy, to romantic comedy. One thing you will always find: an alpha male clashing with a spirited heroine. Showing a bit of spirit of her own, Dani chose to self-publish Hustled To The Altar, "Because I can." Always a contest darling, readers may remember Hustled To The Altar from RWA's Golden Heart (TM) Contest and the American Title Competition sponsored by Romantic Times. A working wife and mom, Dani writes on the weekends in an attic bedroom overlooking her tragic vegetable garden. In the summer, she is seconds away from a pristine mountain lake. In the winter she is too often on the end of a snow shovel. Like many, she wishes she could teleport to exotic locations rather than sit on airplanes, although that is one of her favourite places to read. After early adventures traveling to Europe and Australia, she settled down with her high school sweetheart and produced two children (one of each.) As the kids near the end of their school years, Dani is looking forward to more travel--most likely to Australia where she now has family, although Spain beckons as does Ireland. Dani would love to hear from you. Please contact her through her website at www.danicollins.com or email her at dani@danicollins.com. You can also follow her on Twitter @DaniCollinsBook or find her on Facebook as DaniCollinsAuthor.

This was a freebie download and what a gem of a bargain! A real page turner and very funny. I consider this to be a full length book and not a short quickie read. Would recommend if you're after a light hearted comedy/romance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Zany romance has 1930s screwball comedy flavor 24 April 2016
By D. Summerfield - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
An intricately-plotted fast-paced romantic romp that takes place over the course of one madcap day, this novel really delivers.

On the day before her wedding to Jake, our heroine, Rennie, seeks out her ex-boyfriend, Con, to confess in person that his grandmother has been swindled while under Rennie's care. From this simple beginning, this talented author spins a tale that encompasses con men, gangsters, ambitious news reporters, stoner hotel staff, a day spa that turns into a brothel at night, and a "health mine" where tourists pay to enter an abandoned gold mine to sit in lichen slime and breathe radon gas.

The cast of characters includes a former teen grifter trying to stay straight, a super rich game designer who can't seem to help seeing life in terms of competition, a prissy con man who wears "man makeup," and a mob enforcer who is in the market for a nice diamond ring for his wife. The love triangle between Rennie, Con and Jake is funny and engaging. Despite the importance of the twisty-turny plot, these are all three-dimensional characters with fascinating backstories and realistic character traits.

The author does tend to do some head-hopping in her narration, so it is sometimes hard for the reader to figure out which character's head they are in. But the author has a flare for witty dialogue that can be really funny.

I found this a satisfying read and will seek out this author again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Book too long 20 Nov. 2016
By IBSuzyQ - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I started out liking this book, it was cute and funny in parts - but jeez, I felt like I was reading a book with 1,000 pages. Too much, not realistic after awhile (the H & h were very immature), and I just wanted to finish it. I ended up skipping large portions, and since the book has no chapters, only time (ie: 11:43 am; 5:02 pm, etc - the entire story takes place in one day), I had no idea where I was until I clicked on the book progress. I was exhausted at 55% - just wanted it to end, The author is a good writer, she has talent and the writing flowed easily, it was just way too long for this type of book. The zaniness got overblown, repetitive and downright silly. I don't know if I will ever read another book by this author. I am glad I didn't pay for this book, but even so, I wasted a lot of time reading it with no satisfaction in the end - I figured they would end up together, but didn't care.
3.0 out of 5 stars A circus sideshow act but entertaining fun 13 Jan. 2017
By Amanda Clark - Published on Amazon.com

It took me a few tries to get into this story. I'm not entirely sure why but out of sheer boredom I decided to pick it back up and try again. This time around I actually got into it and seeing as how I love this author's writing, that made me happy.

The idea of ex's Renny and Con being thrown together in a grand caper of epic proportions started out really fun and exciting. On a mission to get back the money that was swindled from his grandmother, Con recruits Renny into the scheme the day before her wedding to steadfast albeit boring, Jacob. The three embark on a trip together and from there the story spirals into what became a circus sideshow at times.

Between Renny and Con playing off each other to see who could "one-up" the other, secondary characters introduced at random and the final payoff at the end it was an entertaining read. I wasn't really a fan of the sideline romance between secondary characters Laila and Spencer though. I'm pretty sure that was a built in setup for their story, possibly in the future. For me it sort of took the focus away from Renny and Con and although I LOATHE a love triangle, this one wasn't nearly as bad as some I've read. Jacob was hardly a threat and at times I found myself rooting for him when Con pissed me off.

The dynamic in this one wasn't my favorite of Collins' but I did enjoy myself and couldn't seem to put it down. It felt a little discombobulating at the best of times, but I'd still recommend it for its excitement in keeping the reader engaged.

4.0 out of 5 stars Greatt book to be made into a movie 25 Nov. 2013
By The Digital Ink Spot - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Hustled to the Altar reads like a romantic comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Matthew McConaughey. There are some twists to the story I think readers will enjoy as well as the story itself. There are a couple of sex scenes that might wake a few up. The story is interestingly constructed and has a few scenes that feel forced to push forward the whole story but it gets right back on track quickly. The main characters are interesting and fun to get to know. In the beginning, Renny is hard to warm up to but once she shows her true colors, you will easily get behind her. Conroy is a real lovable jerk. You will hope through the whole story that he grows up.
Pick up this romantic comedy and be on the look out for it in the theaters. I would almost bet it will get picked up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just a fun read. 5 Mar. 2014
By DebbyRad - Published on Amazon.com

My reading tastes are pretty eclectic, and I had just finished reading a book that was quite different in genre/style/everything. I was ready for one that was just plain fun, and that is exactly what I got with this one. Were they silly? Sure. This is not meant to be a realistic or serious book, I'm sure. It's not squeaky clean, so if you need it to be, you will want to pass. One reviewer mentioned that they thought the author took way too long for a book that was supposed to cover only 24 hours. I have to disagree, because had it gone any faster it would have felt rushed to me. I enjoyed getting to know the characters just a little, and could see reading a sequel to this one to see what kind of fun/trouble the main characters would be sure to get into.
