Her account of parenting is as wickedly funny as it is honest and brave, and the amazing stick figure illustrations some how say it all. (Motherland)
My new favourite book. (Katie Piper)
Enjoying the illustrations and frankness of Katie Kirby (Alex Jones)
Mother's brilliant cartoons show the reality of raising children that ALL parents will relate to... [Katie Kirby's] hilarious cartoons depicting the reality of parenting have turned her into something of a hero for frazzled parents. (Daily Mail)
Beguiling enough for The New Yorker (Lionel Shriver)
Hilarious stick figure cartoons perfectly sum up the reality of motherhood... an amusingly frank account of life with young kids. What sets her apart is her wonderfully simple stick figure drawings which perfectly encapsulate the daily struggles of motherhood - with a large dollop of tongue-in-cheek humour. (The Sun)
Wickedly funny... sharply observed. (Mail on Sunday)

If you're a parent, grab a copy, get the kids to bed and sit down with a very large gin!
Brilliantly written the whole way through. I feel every parent should read this book!
Hurrah for Gin was an entertaining, light-hearted read illustrated with Kirby’s own stick figure renditions of her family. Each chapter was relatively short and were quick to read. Kirby humorously describes the realities of being a parent, from the trials of getting children to eat something vaguely nutritional to surviving the inevitable hangover with clueless toddlers. It takes the trials of parenthood less seriously and serves as a reminder to take the pressure off and to enjoy those moments with their little ones. I loved the tone of the book, whereby the rose-tinted glasses have fallen off and got kicked under the settee.
My verdict? Hurrah for Gin was entertaining and funny, earning three stars out of five. It gets Aunty Faye’s Seal of Approval. It speaks to me because my ambition is to one day become ‘Gin Grandma’. However, I can’t see me wanting to reread this anytime so I will be sending it to a local charity shop to spread the giggles.
Hurrah for Gin!
I drink too much...
I hate childless people who lecture me on how much I drink / eat / weigh
I have lost all sense of caring about anything in the world except getting through bath and book time and crashing on the sofa with a pint of wine
If any of the above is applicable to you then you should buy this book, lock yourself in the toilet and take solace in knowing you are not alone..
