Gritty reads but most definitely recommend!
At first glance, it seemed like a book that I would really enjoy a far-reaching cult and mysterious murders, and I honestly can’t put my finger on why but no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t enjoy it. I’m putting that down to me and not the book though because I could not stop reading.
Mr Jones has this writing style that just keeps you turning the pages, desperate to find out what happens next. With enough description to give you what you need without taking away from the storyline this is a book you can very easily get lost in for a few hours.
It was quite graphic in its violence which I’m not used to but I thought it was well done and with what was going on in the story it wasn’t out of place, I could easily picture what was happening and at points I was cheering it all on.
I won’t go too much into the storyline because I think these are the kind of stories that you need to go into with a blank slate to really appreciate. But it was clever. Everything was very well conceived, the cult, the plot and the characters, even though admittedly I wasn’t really enamoured with any of them.
Conrad as a character, though I didn’t particularly like him, I was cheering him on as he went through many trials and I admired how real he was. He was upfront with his faults and wasn’t some guy with a hero complex, he was just doing his best to get out of the situation he found himself in.
Well actually I told a bit of a lie, there was one character I loved, Evie Jones, the Staffie. I loved that she was a character, not just plot filler and that she could hold her own, I really hope that she is real.Read more ›

Gripping, supernatural thriller from one if my favourite authors. Had me thinking for a minute, "Did Conrad really do all that ?"
I absolutely loved this book, it was fast paced and exciting to the end. Although I would have liked a bit more knowledge of what happened at the end, it seemed a bit rushed but... Read morePublished 7 months ago by Amazon Customer

Still prefer the Ramsay series of books. Love the character. However, the Angels was a journey and a half!! Well done again Conrad!Published 21 months ago by Ms Alison B Gilchrist
