The Hunter Regent is the only wellie that's fitted me properly and been comfortable to wear so it's been wonderful to have so proper footwear for walking the dogs. My foot size is Euro 40 UK 6.5 so I started out with the Regent Neoprene in a 7 but although fitting in the foot, these were huge on the legs and looked and felt ridiculous. Next I tried the 39 size 6 which were almost perfect on the leg but not enough toe room and they had to go back. Bummer I thought. Then I noticed the Regent Nylon so I ordered these in size 6 and.. Perfection! At least with an insole as I have rather flat feet. I think the Neoprene and Nylon wellies are both made on the same last, but the extra 2.5mm of the neoprene lining reduces the foot length and width by 5mm. This was why the Neooprene in 7's fitted so well on my foot. The Neoprene lining may be warmer in winter, but I prefer the Nylon version because it's cooler for summer, more supple and I could still put thick socks on if I needed. I prefer the smoother sole to the wellie style tread too and because the Nylon is £10 cheaper than the Regent Neoprene then this is the one to go for in my opinion.

I have read many reviews on Amazon (and also [...]) and people slate Hunter for an inferior product now production has moved to China. I think this may have been true in the early days of them setting up the production and tooling, but quality seems to have been alright for all the boots I've seen.

The only gripe is the blooming which can occur on all rubber boots, and does not seem age related but dependent on the particular batch of boots and then to different degrees. It's more noticeable on shiny boots like these Regents especially in cold weather and in the presence of water.

I already own a pair of Hunter Regent which are about 4 years old, the quality is fantastic, but they now need replacing.

Hunter Wellies are now a 'fashion statement', I need wellingtons for longevity and durability.

I was completely disgusted at the poor quality of the new Hunter Regent Wellies, the material is really thin and they look cheap. I could say more!!!

I have now invested in a pair of Le Chameau, a little more expensive, but worth it.

I don't usually write reviews, but I had to inform other buyers about the poor workmanship.

Hunter Regent Savoy Wellington Boot

I was so happy when I first got these as they were the most comfortable wellies I had ever had. It felt like I was wearing slippers and I thought definitely well worth the money. Unfortunately my happiness was short lived as within 6 months the heels had worn right down and water was getting in. They also got a split in them around calf level as well as on the soles. The insides are still in excellent condition however. Very disappointed as can only wear them in dry weather now. Would not buy again.

They are expensive but buy cheap buy twice as a wise person once said. Bought for my wife as a christmas present to replace old pair and they get worn twice or three times a day to walk the dog ( so up to 3.5 hours worth of walking through all weather, woods, fields and on average a minimum 5 miles per day) and they do it without problem. I also have a pair of hunters and they are equally good. You will save money in the long run as they are built to last.Hunter Women's Regent Wellies

Great boots, fitted perfectly as I have a slim leg & foot, very comfortable, look great, but...............after only 2 months both boots have split where the foot bends at the toes when walking so basically they are now useless. What use are waterproof boots that leak? A waste of £44.99. Hunter boots have really gone down hill since being manufactured in China and so have Joules wellies which did the same after 2 weeks. Got a replacement and they did exactly the same. I'm going for the cheaper version next time which only cost me £8 from Matalan and lasted me 3 years! Extremely disappointed!

Cannot believe how bad the standard is of these wellies, this is the second pair I've had this year! after the first pair split, thought id give Hunter another chance. Brought these in June, two months later and a lovely split has appeared! They are only worn for approx an hour a day, in minimal weather conditions! They look nice and are very comfortable but are not suitable for 'occasional' use.

Bought these 5 years ago and absolutely love them. Don't wear them daily but there are definitely made to last. Slim fitting on the leg, which is why I bought them. Excellent fit and value (1/2 rec. retail price when I purchased them). Would buy again, but don't think I will have to!

My fiancee was initially impressed with these boots as they were comfortable and stylish.
However, after only a few months of not very heavy usage, both boots developed deep splits along the seams on top of the toe, making them unusable.
This left her extremely disappointed as they were purchased thinking the Hunter name meant quality and they would last.
After reading other reviews of Hunter and seeing similar comments, they will be replaced by Aigle. It seems that Hunter now manufacture their boots cheaply in the far east, with poor quality control, whereas Aigle still manufacture them in France.
Five stars to the retailer Surfdome; they were extremely good and refunded the purchase without question as the faults had developed within the guarantee period.
