I have been given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Hunter Sacrificed is the 0.5 novella, it introduces the background of the Wild Hunt, the gods and decisions behind it and the cruelty that surrounds its origins.
Deceived takes those emotions and tugs on them till you can't think beyond that feeling. The injustice, the absolute unfairness of life and the choices you are given. How sometimes those choices are not fully open and easy. But they have to be made. If not people may suffer if you don't sacrifice.
I love the entire concept and throughly enjoyed the book. After Sacrificed I kept thinking of Minerva and wondering if she can do what Arawn hopes she can. In Deceived you are plunged into the story of Harley and Calan. A Romeo and Juliet style story which you hope for a HEA. When the book ended I just wanted to see each sibling and their ordeal and hope that a HEA is awaiting them on the other side of their journey.
This is a version of the Wild Hunt that has me throughly intrigued and hoping and expecting more. Calan and Harley compliment each other and you can see them leading his siblings into battle from the start. But the gods keep throwing obstacles in their way.
The story flowed, the use of language is great and an incredibly easy read.
Calan, eldest and leader of the hunt led his brethren into a trap eons ago. Now he suffers from the guilt as he lies chained to a wall for eons, that is until his soul touches a young half fae woman trying to escape the murderous intent of the slaugh. In one rash move he ties his soul to hers, his mate. He imparts the secrets she’ll need to survive and extracts her promise that she’ll return. But years speed by as he awaits her return. This woman he has chosen to mate, this woman he has imbued with his love, this woman he will give anything for...
Harley has spent a lifetime sheltered and at times imprisoned. But as she turns eighteen she has decided it’s time to break free from the prison of home and fly the coup. Unfortunately, in sheltering her from the things that rule the night her parents have sheltered her from the truth as well. They’ve kept from her, her heritage. Learning you are the daughter of all that is evil and that you are only a hairsbreadth from turning yourself would be a shock to anyone. Watching your family brutally slain by a red cap and his slaugh then living life on the run would be a nightmare for anyone.Read more ›
Created to protect mankind from the Unseelie Court, Calan never expected to find to love with one of them and the reader can’t help but be drawn into the story as Calan discovers that saving Harley from her fate could damn them both and leave the world open for destruction. The chemistry sizzles with vibrant intensity and the sex scenes are hot and steamy but the relationship has a major drawback as the fate of the world hinges on Calan and Harley’s choices which causes lots of emotional turbulence and these strong, compelling characters capture the heart as they struggle to overcome evil while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of suspense, excitement and romance.
The story starts off with spine tingling tension that builds into pulse pounding excitement as the danger escalates and Harley’s fight to keep from giving in to the rage caused by the evil stalking her gets harder and harder with unexpected twists adding spice. The well written scenes and details make it easy for the reader to immerse themselves in the story as the intriguing events ensure that there is never a dull moment.
My review for Hunter Betrayed still stands as the story was a great story to begin with but now it is even better as Nancy Corrigan has expanded the new version into a much more fulfilling story. It has been rounded out with better connections and greater detail which in turn leads to better understanding and adds more depth, making it even easier to become captivated by the fascinating world and the inspiring characters and I am looking forward to reading Hunter Forsaken and finding out what happens next.
