This is the first book in the spin off series about the guys from Retribution MC. Hunter is the hero, he is fairly new to the MC but this guy has a dark, dark history. Our heroine is Jessica/J.B and she is a feisty character. Together their chemistry is explosive. Lots of really intense and well written hot scenes. The MC serves as a background more than a full on view of day to day life in an MC. There are no sweetbutts/ biker groupies to speak of and the President (Boomer) and VP, Brodie , although important in parts are in the background. Out of all the heroes (Josh, Nick, Brodie) I have read so far, I found Hunter the hardest to warm up to. I still liked him but it took a while. Jessica is very alpha, especially in the bedroom! But, together they work. Good Start To the spin off.

Enjoyed this book but it seemed to jump back in time and I assume that we were to know all the background story, which I didn't. It was quite distracting and left me wondering if that storyline should have been added to the start. Enjoyed the rest of the book though

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian I Dig Good Books.

Hunter has a past, a history that needs to stay that way. But it catches up with him, big time. Jessica gets caught in the cross fire.

From the blurb, I expected Jessica to have her say, but she doesn't! So this book was down a bit from the point that became clear. As much as I don't like multiple POV told in the first person, SINGLE POV is worse!! I need to know what she's thinking and feeling, especially at key points along the way.

AND! I'm reading this on the back of another MC book. There are marked differences, there isn't so much illegal activites here, murder, violence all play a part, but not so much of the other stuff, drug dealing, gun running and the like. AND I LOVED THAT!! The MC club takes an almost backstage part to this story, its soley concentrates on Hunter, his past, present and what he wants his future to be. And his past in complicated! Took me a while to get my head round all the little hints and snippets, I tell ya! It all became clear just a fraction of a page before the story makes it clear, if that makes sense? It does to me, anyway!

Its a spin off from another series, I haven't read those books. I know from some reviews I've read that some of those characters take part here, but I've no idea who is who, in that regard. I didn't feel like I was missing anything, though, I just didn't know who had their story told, and what happened, thats all!

There is a lead into book two, Kinkaid. But he takes very ittle part here, and that makes me wonder if Hunter and Jessica will take little part in his story. I can only see, I have that to read for review too :-)

Because of the single POV and ONLY because of that,

4.5 stars.

4.5 Star Review
I was given this book for a honest review
This is the first book I have read by Rie Warren so I wondered would I find it hard to read because not knowing The Carolina Bad Boys from which this book is a spin off would I connect with the characters. Nothing to worry about there i could not put this book down and I will be one clicking The Carolina Bad Boys.
Hunter is a dirty talking sexy Alpha male who is very secretive about his past and with good reason " He is a Ghost, He is a Gun for Hire" but what happens when a Hunter becomes a Huntee and a bad boy becomes a good boy .......
JB is sassy and sweet at times but she is also feisty and can handle herself amongst the MC bikers she chooses to mix with. She is bit of sugar with a lot of spice.
When Hunter and JB met at the local biker bar sparks fly and neither of them can forget the other but both are only interested in a sex they don't have time for anything else. Relationships are not for them. That is all about to change when Hunter becomes the target and he has to find a way to keep his loved ones safe.
The characters in this book have a real chemistry that amounts to a lot of hot steamy sex but it is also about suspense will the Hunter be caught and then we have a love story. All in all I loved it

Hunter is a bad boy biker who wants to put his dark past behind him so he can be the good guy he really is. But the problem with a dangerous past, is that it has a habit of catching up with you and the ones you love. When he meets JB the attraction between them is instant, but he doesn't want to taint the innocent looking biker chick with his lifestyle. JB may look young and innocent, but she has a dirty side too!

I love bad boys, I love feisty heroines, I love suspenseful storylines and I love hot biker romances - so I guess you won't be surprised when I say that I loved this book! Hunter is an exciting, fast paced book that is hot, hot, hot. I enjoyed both the romance storyline and the suspense element. The book was told entirely from Hunter's point of view, I found it refreshing for the story to be told by the hero instead of the heroine. I easily connected with both Hunter and JB - they were both passionate, fun characters which were entertaining to read about.

This is my first Rie Warren read, but it won't be my last - I'm already looking forward to Kinkaid's story which is the next book in the series. This is a great book that gets five stars.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
