Picture quality on the normal channels is superb, probably better than Sky and the HD channel (only one available at the moment) is stunning on the supplied HDMi cable, I have ordered a better cable so look forward to even better quality.
On screen format is simlar to Sky with the what`s on today, tommorrow etc, program info, favorites in fact all that Sky has and more.
The unit itself is much smaller than it looks in the pic which is nice, about half the size of a Sky box. Some basic remote functions are available under a flap on the front of the unit and the rear has two scarts, Hdmi, Ethernet, Usb, LNB in (sat cable), component vid, SPDIF, Audio (RCA). User manual is very comperhensive with lots of little things you would never know, unless you read it..lol
Overall I`m very pleased with it (only had it a couple of hours) but first impressions are excellent, and no more bills
Although the warning on the box says 'installation recommended' I simply unplugged the sky box and plugged in the freesat box. It was up and running in 5 minutes a perfect drop in replacement.
A greater, although different, choice of channels than with the old BBC card in a sky box.
BBC HD can be viewed in normal definition even if you have an old normal definition TV.
Program guide opens on the channel being, or last, viewed.
Takes about 1 minute to warm up from standby.
There are plenty of sockets in the back for your needs, the satelite aerial, HD and 2x scarts being the most important. This was I believe the first freesat on the market, and my first freesat, and as it is does what is says without problems and has lasted me longer than one year I recommend it.
However, if tempted I don't want to put you of and to help you save money, if you have SKY you don't need a satellite dish, just unplug your SKY unit, pop in your HD unit and connect up, the same satellite sends both signals. There, that's saved you £80 so that's another reason to consider one.. Amazon, delivery as good as ever - five stars for unit and delivery.

Slow as molasses in winter. Don't know why I've put up with these two Humax boxes for so long!Published 2 months ago by Amazon Customer
Great price/value. Was using it for two years. After moving house can't use it anymore and I'm dissapointed cause it is unused in a box.Published 13 months ago by Kosa
