The key message is sanguine & practical compared to much of the hyperbole spoken about AI. The technology will fundamentally change the way businesses operate and give forward-thinking leaders an opportunity to "rehumanise work". Backed up by dozens of case studies, the authors identify eight fusion skills that will be necessary in the future work place. In short: a well researched, robust roadmap for redesigning the enterprise.
The book is written for the informed business person but would be an important read both for the highly technical, who are building these systems, and the general audience, who are trying to see through the fog of AI hype.
Paul Daugherty and H. James Wilson have produced a superb book “Human + Machine” #HplusM. Through many well researched examples they explain how AI is actually changing work, making suggestions about what needs to be considered, and then lay out a very practical approach for how companies can think about taking advantage of AI.
They overcome the binary problem (human v machine), by developing the concept of the “missing middle” tasks which enable a hybrid Human+Machine world, (just like an expert using the best tools, and the tools providing feedback on how best to improve).
