My advice for those of you training to be a pilot is use these books as a study guide. Aviation is not easy and so these books are not light reading. Make notes on each chapter and make sure you can answer the questions at the end of the chapter. All of them. This shows you have an understanding of the subject. The examiners will try to catch you out so that they can see that you understand exactly what is going on by looking at all parts of the question they present to you. You will find that initially you may be able to answer questions partly correct but not fully correct. This shows you do know what is going on but not what is fully going on which is basically what the authorities would like to see and perhaps this is the goal that they would like to meet to make aviation safer for all pilots. Use the exam prep guides to see basically how they present the knowledge from the flight manuals into question form as examples of the type of questions that may come up. Be aware that the questions have shrunk in how many they ask so don't make too many errors. Use these books daily too keep the knowledge fresh and good luck with your studying.

This book, along with Book No.2 is part of my pilot training project which I will (hopefully)commence in March. These books along with 1, 3, 4, 5, and 7 which I have been studying for several months have given me an in depth view of what flying is all about. The entire series covers just about every aspect of flight training imaginable and I feel that when I enter a light a/c I will do so with much, much more than a basic modicum of knowledge and therefore will be more at ease. These books are essential reading.

Undoubtedly one of the best of its kind. Absolutely essential reading for any pilot, and not merely to pass the exam! A refresher-read is always useful, I feel.

As I'm training for my PPL this book is part of the training, I was amazed just how interesting it was - it contains some very interesting facts about human senses, psychology, and things about the body, some things I'd been curious about for a long time, were in this book.
It could even be interesting reading for someone who wasn't doing pilot training.

all of the books in this series have proved to be well written, concise yet informative, and tackle each subject in an organised and logical way. this book in particular is actually an extremely interesting read irrespective of whether you are attempting an exam in the subject matter. thoroughly recommended.
