I called Huawei support and raised a complaint as in no way had I damaged the watch. After another week, Huawei called me back and advised that as it had "Physical Damage" it was not covered by their warranty and is their "Final Decision". The faulty watch is currently on its way back to me... I loved the product but really let down by the company and their assertion that all faults are caused by their customers. Will I buy Huawei again? Probably but I am really am not happy how they treat their customers. I guess companies only show their true colours when something goes wrong (an area Apple shines right?). Shame on you Huawei...
Watch returned to me by the service centre but they have failed to include the faulty / broken piece of the watch. Contacted Huawei support again and they have filled another escalation. Wow...
Contacted Huawei support again as I had not heard from them. Was advised that my escalation was waiting for a reply from the Service Centre (SBE Global Electronic Service & Logistics Management) and they will contact me when they have more news. Will call again in another week.
Contacted Huawei support again as I had not heard from them. Was advised that the Service Center (SBE Global Electronic Service & Logistics Management) had replied to the escalation stating that the part had most likely had been disposed. When I asked Huawei "what now?" they could not advise me, only that they could re-raise the escalation to ask simply that. (Face palm), this is so trying.
Contacted Huawei support again as I had not heard from them. Was advised that my escalation was waiting for a reply from the Service Centre (SBE Global Electronic Service & Logistics Management). New escalation raised to escalate the last escalation...
Contacted Huawei support again as I had not heard from them. Had to explain the whole issue (from the start) again. Was placed on hold while the customer service agent spoke to their Team Leader. Was advised that they would contact the Service Center (again). Received a phone call later that day that in fact the lug will now being returned to me. At least things are moving in the right direction... "or are they...". Tune in next week for more adventures of "Physical Damage", starring Huawei and a valued customer?...
Still not revived the lug from the service centre. Looking at other Amazon reviews I can see others have experienced this too. Umm...
Contacted Huawei as I had still not received the lug. They told me that the service centre was confused on their last response (they thought I had paid for the repair) and have not sent the lug. Asked Huawei for a transcript of our conversations. Another escalation created to get the service center to resolve this once and for all as this just cannot go on forever.
No contact yet from Huawei...
No contact yet from Huawei... Time for an N1 form?
No contact yet from Huawei... Just reading the comments posted about my experience here, thank you all - glad it's not just me that has experienced this fault and cold shoulder from Huawei. One of the comments suggested that I contact Amazon with regards to the faulty watch as they cover faults for up to 2 years. It's got to be worth a try right? Can Amazon really resolve this issue for me once and for all? Drum roll...
The google maps app also seems to suffer badly. When using navigation it seems to just suddenly stop for no reason with the app just sat there like I'm not moving. I've not managed to use it successfully once yet and always end up going back to my phone. Even when using the phone for navigation, the watch echo's the directions that the phone is giving. This is great if your phone is not in line of view as you can recheck the next direction. That is until it suddenly stops echoing the direction for no reason and your left asking your passenger to scrabble to find the phone and check where your supposed to be going.
As this was my first smart watch, I think I may have overestimated what you can do with them. Apps seem very limited with most not offering any additional convenience to have it on your wrist. Google assistant just continually gets things wrong and most of the time just too laggy. You press the button and wait for it to load. Once loaded you think it's listening and start talking to it but then realise it's only just started listening and only heard half of what you said. Same going for apps that use voice to dictate. Take sms messages for example. You press the little microphone icon to reply and after what seems like an eternity, it opens. You wait a little longer to make sure it's listening. Start talking and then wait for it to write it. Then you realise it's only got half of it. Try to re-record it and then it's got several words wrong. Get frustrated and end up just doing it on the phone.
No way for UK people to use amazon's Alexa service that I've found so far. There appears to be an app for the US, but doesn't work for UK servers.
I've also been disappointed by the watch faces. Most of the ones I've tried have been paid ones which I naively thought would give me something of good quality. Most of the apps are Garish and focus on gimmicky settings whilst missing the fundamental things someone might want to change. A lot of the paid faces will also then require and additional purchase to unlock premium features. I'm still looking something that fits.
Battery life is also very disappointing. You have to choose between using the watch during the day, or wearing it overnight to monitor sleep. You can't do both. With a basic watch face and little use other than a few notifications during the day, the battery still only lasts 14-15 hours. I have it on charge overnight and put it on in the morning. By 10pm it's usually at 15-20%. Not enough to go through the night. Even if it did have enough charge to go through the night, you'd then have to charge it the following day. I can't imagine what the battery life would be if I used the watch for doing fitness during the day.
All in all, very underwhelming. I'm left wondering if all smart watches are like this and just gimmicks. I'm inclined not to spend any more money to find out.
This watch Has many faces, some simple, some giving plenty of information, like the mariner commander. A little bit thick but OK. You can also buy different straps. A little bit confusing regarding water: doc says not good for swimming but it also says it's IP68 so get immerse up tp 1.5m. Swimming is not scuba diving as far as I know. Use the Huawei app, instead of the Google Wear, plus the Huawei Health app.
