Everything they do is driven by their desire to make gardening simple and enjoyable. From their early days almost 50 years ago, their drive has always been to develop technically perfect, visibly striking products that are part of a system. The first product they produced was the worlds first plastic hose connector - the Hose-Lock. Today, they are based in Birmingham (UK), and are a global garden equipment manufacturer. They have a comprehensive range that includes: garden watering, garden pressure sprayers, and pond equipment. In 2007 They won the IMECHE (Institute of Mechanical Engineers) Manufacturing Excellence award for change management. Building on this they have just been awarded the 2008 MX award for Customer Focus. The Hozelock vision is to be the European garden supplier of choice through innovation, best value and best service.

I've bought a lot of Hozelock items over the years, I guess it's because their stuff because it's so ubiquitous, but I think this is the last Hozelock purchase I'll ever make. Recently, I've had a few too many leaking connectors (particularly annoying when they leak in the centre of a hose reel).
A a couple of months ago I purchased an automatic hose reel from one Hozelock's Swedish competitors. It was a real eye-opener a significant step up in quality. It's solidly made, works perfectly and there's not a drip to be seen anywhere (which means I'm not having to constantly turn the outdoor tap on and off). Yes it's a bit pricer, but I suspect I could have saved money on similar items over the years, by spending more in the first place. Maybe I've finally learned my lesson.
In terms of programming, they are very customisable, probably better than any other timer on the market, but their cost and faults means I won't buy another one, and when my few remaining ones fail I will replace them with another brand.
Together with the rain-sensor this has been excellent.
I coupled the AC Pro with a Darlac manifold Darlac Plastic 4 Way Tap Manifold and a series of soaker hoses Draper 15 Meter Soaker Hose.
I used the system throughout the summer of 2013 and 2014, and it was excellent. The AC pro computer is straightforward to programme. I set it up 2 days before going away to make sure I had understood how it worked, and to make sure that the water reached where I wanted it to - no problems at all.
The water tap is against the wall of my house, so the AC Pro is somewhat protected from direct rain, but it has remained water-tight.
I discovered a problem this year when I came to set it up again to water a new area I had just planted. I opened it to replace the batteries, and all O-rings around the 4 screws that secure the back in place had split - and spares are not available.
Additionally, two of he threads into which the screws locate had cracked, and so I decided to buy a new unit. For the price I am not too upset. I suspect that I may have over-tightened the screws the last time that I had replaced the back.
I have been a little more gentle this time.
Overall I find it excellent and certainly has reliably ensured that my new plants get watered in, and the rain-sensor has avoided wasting water when it has already rained.
As usual, delivered very promptly from Amazon.
A previously-purchased high-street alternative failed fairly quickly so I decided to pay the extra for this model to cover watering of selected plants in a small garden during holidays.
It has loads of options if you want them, but is also simple enough to set up.
It looks much more solidly-built & with far better sealing of the electronics against water ingress than other models I have seen, but only time will tell whether it actually survives any longer & hence is worth the (significantly) higher price.
The mechanism for opening & closing the valve seems also to be more 'robust' (from the sound it makes, I think it uses a screw action rather than a solenoid), but again I guess only time will tell whether it actually outlasts the cheaper alternatives.
It takes larger batteries than some alternatives & hence shouldn't need changing so often (note that it won't accept rechargeable batteries) the manufacturer suggests that a single fresh set of non-rechargeables should last a full season.
It has worked fine so far (just over a month).
