As a keen semi-pro photographer I purchased what I thought was a reasonably priced product made by and industry standard name in optical products.. Hoya, and was not disappointed. Will buy from here again

As one might expect from Hoya this is a precision made filter with excellent optics. Skylight choosen over the usual UVc as it tends to give slightly warmer tones.

Bought to protect my main lens; cheaper to buy a new filter than a lens! Excellent discernible results on the photos. Get the best optics you can afford as it pays dividends later. Hoya are well known brand so was confident with the purchase. Recommend to anyone who wants similar filter.

When you put a permanent bit of protection glass over your lens you want to be assured it is good quality. Hoya has a good reputation so usually buy Hoya, best quality version, for all my lenses. Skylight gives a slightly warmer result than UV alone, which I prefer. recommended.

This filter was purchased as a lens protector for a Panasonic digital camera. It doesn't seem to create any colour cast on the images and is a fraction of the price of Panasonic's own lens protector which claims to be specific to digital requirements.

I purchased it to protect my panasonic camcorder lens but found it to be useless as It gave severe reflections and now have stopped using it but as filters go on other cameras Film/DSLRs they are great and will always use them to protect lenses as they are much cheaper to replace than a prime lens..

This is the Hoya Skylight screw filter (1B, 58mm) a photographic 'attachment' designed to improve certain elements of your photography. In this case the filter is designed to reduce bullishness which you'll often encounter in shady conditions when the sky above is clean and bright. The 1B aspect simply means that it provides a slight warming effect to photographs, which is worth having especially for many aspects of landscape photography, however the effect is slight and doesn't create any major color casts on photos. It also reduces the degree of flare created in some shooting conditions.

The thread size on this filter is 58mm, the size you require will depend on the thread size of the lens your using. This make and model comes in different sizes so remember to check what size you require, instead of having to buy several for all your lens it's an idea to buy one for your largest lens and use stepping (down) rings to allow you to use it for your other lens.

Like all filters of this nature installation is easy, taking only seconds to screw it on to the front of your lens element. Always remember not to over tighten and watch out for smearing it or your lens with your finger prints. Build quality is good and the glass is multi-layer coated (improving quality and again reducing flare).

The packaging was disappointing as it arrived essentially wrapped in a piece of plastic and cardboard, as a result my first order arrived with a hairline crack down the glass and was send back for a replacement. Nothing else is included in the cost, not even a small carrying case.

The problem with all filters is that you are adding another layer of glass between the camera sensor and the photo that your taking.

Bought as protection for a new Nikon 70-300 lens. Does its job well, although I have noticed slight colour and sharpness
issues so I will monitor these over the coming months.
