I bought these on the strength of an article in the Guardian newspaper ( UK ), about the writer's search for earplug nirvana. Effectiveness, comfort, durability and cost were all considered - these earplugs score highly in all fields. With them in, I cannot hear the radio my husband is listening to, or, more importantly, his snoring when he falls asleep. The tapered shape and flange mean that they are more comfortable to wear, whilst retaining effective noise-blocking. I wear earplugs almost every night, and don't get sore ear canals ( as I have done with other earplugs). I do reuse them about seven times, but find that they become less effective with use. However, they are not expensive and represent good value for money.

I have narrow ear canals and was undecided whether I should try the Howard Leight MAX or try the Quies Protection Auditive, in the end I ordered both. The first ones I used were these. I found that the would not expand in the ear canal, instead they would expand and then pop out into the ear. without them blocking the ear canal they are about as useful as cotton wool, and I could hear my husband breathing never mind snoring!. The material they are made from is smooth and shiny but also slightly sticky which means it drags on the inside of your ear. when I woke up in the morning the ear plugs were in the bed and I had a burst blister in the inside of my ear. The only reason I have given this 3 stars is because they may be useful for people with larger ear canals, but for me they were useless. A few days later when my blister healed I tried the Quies. they were smaller, fitted nicely inside the canal and didn't pop out, the material is soft and velvety and did not cause any discomfort. The plugs were still in place in the morning I dont hear any noise with them in.

Well like many others, I bought these based on good reviews, and was disappointed. Let me preface this by saying that I have tinnitus and hyperacusis (not horrible but bad), and I find some noises unbearable (traffic, buses, crowded places, planes etc), so I wear earplugs a lot when I'm out and about to maintain a level of sanity, so I've tried a lot of types or earplugs.

These are by far the worst - the problem is the foam - unlike any other kind of earplug this one does not keep its compressed form for more than 1 second. So basically when you're not applying pressure they go back to fully expanded, which makes proper insertion impossible, at least for my (normal I think) ear canal. And even with flash like speed - meaning squishing them right outside the ear and then rushing to get them in they don't work, you always feel them pushing in, which is what you never want with earplugs, because A) that means they're not taking the form of your ear canal, and therefore not providing good protection and B) you're pushing back earwax, impacting it on the tympanic membrane, which is bad (the same reason you're not supposed to stick cotton buds in ears).

These are pretty much useless really, and I doubt I'm doing it wrong since I've been doing this for over 2 years.

Instead of getting these do yourself a favour and get 3M 1100 earplugs, they're made from the best memory foam I've ever seen, have the same SNR rating (37) and are super comfortable. You can't find normal quantities on Amazon (e.g less than 100 pairs but you can find them on e bay)

I moved into Halls of Residence in October when I started my Masters degree in London. Long story short, the people I live with were inconsiderate...ahem. They would stay up all night talking, I say talking, I mean shouting, playing music club level loud and despite numerous noise complaints did not stop. Barely getting any sleep was affecting my studies....who knows what it did to theres (they are also Masters students), so I decided to buy some ear plugs. I don't sleep with them every night, I tend to have them by the side of my bed, and if i get woken up, as i inevitably do, I stick them in. They are really easy to put in, however my ears do hurt after wearing them all night, but that could be more specifically related to me as I have my tragus pierced and thats what hurt most in the morning.

They don't block out background noise completely so if your a light sleeper these may not be for you. They do sufficiently muffle background noise though. I find if i have these in, then put my tv on a low volume I can't hear the music or shouting. I would recommend these to any student who is living with hellish people!!!

I think your supposed to use a new pack every night but I normally get about 4 days use out of mine. So they are really worth the value!

Tried a few different types of ear plug including the gel putty type ones but they didnt work too well with the girlfriends snoring. These things worked a treat as she is really loud without them and you cant beat the price either, would definately recommend!!

I've been using these on and off for a few years now and find them very handy. I don't always need them, but I live on a busy road and if I wake up at certain times, they're a godsend to cut out the noise of traffic or people coming home after a night out!

Everyone's ears are different obviously, so you can't know how good a fit you will get until you try them, but for me these fit well. I have tried the laser lights in the past for example and they were a bit too small for me. However, I gave them to my sister and they fit her nicely. When you first start using a pair of these, they squish down nicely while rolling between your thumb and finger and are very easy to insert into your ear. They are soft and smooth and don't cause any pain and discomfort for me.

After several uses, they will begin to lose their effectiveness - they don't squish down the same or stay squished as long, meaning they are harder to get into your ears and don't fit as snugly. Eventually you'll likely wake up with one or both having fallen out of your ears if you use them too long. It seems to vary but I do seem to get quite a lot of uses out of each pair.

I might just be imagining it (or maybe my ears have changed slightly over the years!) but with recent sets I've used, the maybe don't feel quite as good as before - I'm not sure if they fit quite as snugly or last quite as long. They are cheap and individually packaged and keep out the noise though, so I'll keep using them for sure.
