This is a great book! I bought this along with Secrets of Freelance Illustration: How to become a successful freelance illustrator by Mark Dickson and I feel I have a great foundation to start from.
There is lots of information inside How to be an Illustrator, and it covers a wide range of information about the illustration industry. The Secrets of Freelance Illustration book is a really practical guide with more step-by-step instructions and free downloadable forms on Kindle. I think they really both compliment each other and I can't wait to build my professional portfolio using the info from these guides.

I'm an illustration student, I bought this book recently and am really pleased with it. It goes through everything you need to become an illustrator ie how to create an invoice, who to contact at companies etc- things that aren't necessarily covered at uni. The interviews with practising illustrators are refreshingly honest and insightful- not just 'PC vs Mac?' nonsense- and I've found the book pretty inspiring!

Excellent book..... Full of useful information about the British illustration scene. Well worth buying if you're interested in becoming a freelance illustrator as it covers things like copyright, agents and fees, subjects that aren't usually covered in art schools...

Does what it says on the tin which is rarely the case with these sort of books. I have already recommended it to several people.

This book breaks down how to be an illustrator very well, and makes an unwieldy topic seem more wieldable. It can act as a chekclist or to do list for a beginning illustrator who don't know where to begin.
