I was expecting rather a lot from this, some deep linguistic insights or everyday examples of motivational language practice. All I got from it, though, reinforced advice I could get from the labels on organic teas. Perhaps that's a bit cruel. I'll reframe:
If I hadn't learned a whole lot about motivation and human nature already from various books and - well - life, then I might have found this valuable.
It was an easy read, pretty accessible and fast.
This book has warmed me up enough to go ahead and buy another book - NLP sounds pretty interesting and worth looking to see if it could benefit me. This intro book gives you the basics, but not enough breathing space between narration to explore the exercises yourself properly. The characters are quite cringe worthy in places, another reviewer succinctly called them 'cardboard characters' - I would agree.
The book is short especially for the price, and is the pre-qual to 'The Ultimate Introduction NLP: How to Build a Successful Life.' Having checked the number of pages to this second book and read reviews, it would seem that this second book takes the same story / conference format and also only 160 pages! So... I have opted to bypass the second book and buy a copy of 'Get the Life you Want: The Secrets to Quick & Lasting life Change.' Crossed fingers this one is a more direct approach and a deep dive!
