Product description

About the Author

I write romances with flawed characters, characters with artistic hearts: builders, poets, and writers of various makes and models. I love to write book lovers; those who have found refuge, companionship, and escape in books, much as we do in real life. I like realism, honesty, authenticity in storytelling. I love to write about enduring love, soul-deep love, in as real a setting as I can make, but with big smooshy HEAs. I believe in diversity, open-mindedness, and inclusion. I like sweetness mixed with steam, love conquering all, and above all, hope. Love always wins.

Wow. Just wow. This.. I wasn't expecting this story at all!! Emma Scott has tugged me on this remarkable journey of love, loss & cruelty, showing me pain, hurt & regret, but also wrapping me hope, love & faith. It was insanely intense, utterly gripping & absolutely addictive.

Evan & Jo have suffered so much already, each carrying their own pain, scars & demons as they try to manure life. Circumstances throw them together & thus starts their tremendous journey, so full of acceptance, deep understanding & the belief that maybe, just maybe they can & will save each other.

The story for me was unique & I found myself captivated by Evan - the boy & the man. Equally I loved watching Jo's role in the story develop & he she rose from the ashes to become a woman of so many beautiful strengths.

The emotions poured from the pages & touched me profoundly, and honestly at times I couldn't bare to think that there wouldn't be a HEA of the best kind. Loving this pair & all their uniqueness was so easy & effortless. Emma has once again gave me a story that will stay with me.

As with all Emma Scott's writing I loved this book, it was very fast paced, two damaged souls brought together accepting of each others differences, and then ripped apart by tragic events just when they had finally found their happiness.

Jo is a tortured soul, her childhood experiences have left her traumatised and lacking in self worth, she seeks control in her own ways as she bounces from town to town with her guardian.

Evan is singled out as a freak because of his abilities, which some people find difficult to understand, he is tormented by his brothers on a daily basis and distances himself from people. The paranormal element is not overwhelming, but is important to the plot of the story.

There was a lot of holding my breath along with the characters in the second half of the story as they raced across country away from horrible situations toward freedom, without knowing if they could possibly find it under the circumstances.

Heart pounding read with a happy ending

This book had a different vibe to it and had me engrossed from the beginning. It's the story of Jo and Evan who fall in love at high school but separated, then reunited 4 years later. Is there love still strong? Will they have their HEA?

They face many challenges through the story, which was beautifully written. I have loved all of the book that I read by Emma so far, she has a real talent for story telling and this book was a bit quirky too. I'm looking forward to starting Sugar and gold now.

Strong likeable characters and a good plot with a slight paranormal twist to it make this book a really enjoyable read. Jo is a strong person with a history of abuse and she is in the custody of her uncle who's job means that they move around a lot. Evan is adopted and his brothers constantly bully him and have done a sterling job of wrecking his social status at school by propagating rumours that he's a nut job following a freak out at school. The story is about how Evan and Jo fall in love and overcome the many obstacles in their way. There's murder ,police manhunts and a road trip as well as Evans psychic dreams. I highly recommend this book.

I absolutely loved this book. I love anything supernatural and this had a hint to it. The relationship that built between the characters was amazing. You really felt the characters joy and pain in this book. I actually found myself tearing up and then smiling when I read this book. I think even someone who hates supernatural could fall inlove with these characters.

At first, I thought this story was going to be just about girl meets boys in high school, there would be some drama and some heartache along the way, which is great because that's the kind of story I like but this book goes way beyond that . I won't go into to much detail but I will say this story is incredibly unique and if you want a story that stays with you, long after you read it then you have you self a winner here.

Jo is scarred, on the inside and the outside. Her scars remind her of her difficult past every single day. She's just moved there and already wants to leave Planerville as soon as possible. She finds comfort in her writing and tries to build a reputation at every new school she has to start, so everyone knows who they're dealing with. She normally keeps her distance, but when she meets Evan she knows she can't do that with him. People see him as the town freak, but Jo finds him interesting. They meet at the pool at night and instantly know they have a deep and meaningful connection.

Jo and Evan thought they'd have a chance together, they were feeling a bit of happiness just for a short while. A terrible incident comes between them and they are being separated.' They keep thinking about each other though and when fate brings them together four years later there's something that threatens their entire existence once more. Is it possible for them to have a second chance or will something mess things up again?

How to Save a Life is a beautiful story about two people who have very difficult lives. They don't know comfort and safety and they don't have a steady home. They find that with each other, but it isn't meant to be. I shed quite a few tears while reading this story, mostly because of the unfairness of the whole situation. How to Save a Life is raw and heartbreaking. It's an emotional rollercoaster. There's never a dull moment and there are so many unexpected twists and turns. The ending is absolutely brilliant, it's amazing and it definitely surprised me.

Jo and Evan are both strong and vulnerable at the same time. That makes them interesting main characters and they're easy to like. Their story is impressive.
