This is so much more fun than your average craft book! From start to finish this book is great. It shows you the basics of how to make jewellery, from the tools you need, to how to construct jewellery by gluing, cutting, filing, beading, where to buy the components and how to put them together. It also gives you good ideas for how to style the jewellery into your wardrobe. Some of the things it shows you how to make are real statement pieces!

The thing I like best about this book is that it helps you make all those precious bits and bobs you have lying around into jewellery. My bedroom is littered with cute little things which I really love, but don't really have a use. This book inspires you to make those special little items into really fun and personal jewellery.

Not only does this book gives you the basic skills to make basic jewellery, but it gives you real food for thought of how to think about jewellery differently and make really fun pieces which are really personal to you!

Really lovely fun jewelry book - instantly gives you an inspirational feel - and invokes your creativity. Very well explained - and I agree with the last review - makes you wander around your house looking at things and wondering if you can turn them into exotic fun jewelry ! Possibly not for people wanting to create classic gold jewelry - unless they are seeking inspiration - but we were absolutely enthralled !

I love (making, buying, hoarding - well just having) jewellery and I do love a bit of Tatty ... so is this the perfect combination?

YES! It looks lovely, is utterly inspirational, great as a how to with tips and is the total perfect christmas gift. What more could anyone ask for?

Basically I am now feeling very good about myself ... and this Christmas, I will be passing that feeling on by giving this book to my nearest and dearest :-)))

When I think of Tatty Devine I think of her rockabilly work in enamel, laser cut plastic, mirror etc, not plastic crystals stuck on card or nasty crisp packets. I received this as a present, opened it excitedly... and was pretty disappointed. If you've ever made jewellery before then this is not the book for you, it has very little to inspire as quite a lot of the work within it is, frankly, tat. This is more of a book for (young!) children rather than an adult craft book and I have to say I think most teens would find this stuff tasteless too. On the plus side it does have some good photography (of tat). This is going straight onto e-bay I think.

I love all things Tatty Devine and it was great to learn how to make things like the measuring take broach. However i was disappointed with the rest of the book as its basic message is, you can make jewellery out of anything... but you still need to find all the bits first. It would have been good to have more projects included.

I bought this book to inspire my girlfriend in making her own jewellery at home and have fun.
Despite the title, the book is not exhaustive on how to do...and is more a shopping window for Tatty Devine products, is still worth the price paid, there're useful tips.

How to Make Jewellery with Tatty Devine is a beginner's guide to making quirky jewellery. The book begins with a section on the basics of making jewellery. I thought this was very useful as it has pictures of all the tools and findings you need along with an explanation of what they are. This could be very useful for any beginners struggling to remember what the difference between a head pin and eye pin is. The rest of the book is filled with projects. I think this book is very well written. I found the instructions very clear to follow, although I would have liked to see a few more instructional photographs. The problem I had with this book is that I just found the majority of the projects completely unwearable. This book is best suited to young teens or older people who maybe have unconventional jobs/lifestyles. I know that if I walked around wearing a necklace made from a crisp packet or an old pair of glasses I would look very strange. One of the good things about this book is that you can reuse things from around your home to make these pieces so it is good if you are on a budget. I would have liked to see some projects using beads and I was surprised at the lack of earrings in this book. The major problem I had with this book is that the designs are just not as good as the ones Tatty Devine sells. Tatty Devine jewellery usually strikes me as being quirky, but beautifully made. I found a lot of the projects in this book just looked rather amateur. Obviously no jewellery designer is going to teach people how to make replicas of their designs, but I expected the projects to look a little more polished.

It kills me to say this as I love Tatty Devine but this book was a let down and not what I expected at all. However if you have a teenager into craft and making their own things then this is the book for them.
