The book should be outdated as it was written in 1979 but the stories and experiences recounted are as relevant today as ever.Had to buy 2nd hand but well worth it

HASH(0x9d76e27c) out of 5 stars Father of the conglomerate empire . 6 Jun. 2011
By Roger Thompson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Royal Little ( 1896-1989 ) was a pioneer in the field of conglomerate investing . After many decades of struggling with his start up company , Textron , failing to gain significant profits in textile manufacturing , Roy hit upon the idea of reconstructing his company with a diverse set of unrelated businesses , to steady the regular cashflow . Against all advice to the contrary , he gradually built a multi-industry industrial giant .

..... His writing style plods a little , ahem ! But the lessons he learnt , the $ 100 million that he blew , over the years , are still valuable to us today .

HASH(0x9d774cf0) out of 5 stars Great Book On Business 22 Nov. 2014
By Chris D Gilleland - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Royal Little, who was considered the "Father of Conglomerates," wrote an interesting story of his successes and failures. Well written and it flows well. Even though written over 30 years ago it offers great advice and perspective relevant today.
