A nice little spin on a popular fairy tale that's funny in places and sweet in others.

Okay, so this book pretty much matches the description of cupcakes and icecream. It is light and fluffy so don't bother if you are looking for a dark and gritty book. Cindy has her problems but she also has an awesome support team in her two best friends. This trio of girls will have you laughing out loud. There is a lot of background information given with the baking of the cupcakes and what ingredients they have, how they look etc. This was okay as she is a baker so obviously part of the story but by the end, I was just like, come on, get on with the story, enough about the cakes!

On the whole the plot is well-paced but the ending does seem a bit rushed in the fact that one minute they are not speaking and the next, everything is all hunky-dory! I know that love is blind but I do find it strange that such emphasis was put on how fast Mr Right drove. A white-knuckle drive is so not sexy in my mind but hey, what do I know!?

This is a book that starts a new series so there are plenty of questions left open and more stories to tell. If you like humorous, romantic, magical bakers then give this book a try.

Just come across this series. Always willing to give the first book a try and then go from there.

Have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. So many series with similar themes. Nice to see one that has chosen a different path. Love the originality of this book.

The main characters are excellent and believable. Not sure about the heroines contrived name, though I do know worse.

The story runs gently along giving you time to enjoy getting to know the characters. The storyline keeps you totally involved to the end. Despite the book's title the toads, both of them, had definite personalities shame they are not still with us for the second book. Nice reversal of the princess/frog story.

The flavours for the cakes and ice cream were something else. Why was there no recipes at the end of the book?? We have a lovely little cafe in York, England, where I live. The variety of unusual flavours of the cakes make me a regular. Got some very funny comments from the owner/baker on some of your flavour combinations. She has offered to try one or two. So on your head be it.

Its clear book two will take a completely different storyline whilst keeping, I hope, the main characters. It's my next to read and am looking forward to it. Will let you know how I got on.

Thank you to the author. It's so nice to have a break from the usual.

To anyone reading this simple review please read the book as I am sure my review does not do it justice. Sorry for the headline pun.

This series must be read in order. The first book is How (Not) to Play with Magic (A Cindy Eller Short Story Prequel) (Cindy Eller Snack). This is the second book.

I love this book! I was seriously disappointed when it was over lol. I do not know how Elizabeth does it but with every book she writes the world becomes more and more immersive and alive :) I admit freely that I am a Cindy Eller addict :) And i want to infect everyone else my addiction :) These books are fast paced and easy to read as Elizabeth's voice breathes life into her characters and their world. The only complaint I ever have is that I want MORE !!!! :)

***This series is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers who enjoy modern fantasy with a fractured fairytale vibe and magical mayhem with a dash of romance :)

Cindy is a baker who uses a bit or magic to make her produce taste out of this world. She has just one problem - everyone she dates turns into a toad (literally). She then thinks she has found the perfect man only to be sadly mistaken (again). Now the Magic Council are on her case and she might lose her magic.

I found this book a bit too silly and found myself reading it faster towards the end for all the wrong reasons (I just wanted to finish it so I could read something better).

This book is fluffy and girly, an easy read with no real darkness. Cindy Eller ( as in cinderella - a joke from her mom) is a witch who bakes. She is an excellent baker, but not a very successful witch and when she kisses boys if they are toads inside they become toads outside.
Behind this silliness she has limited powers as her mom has bond her magic.
An easy read, bit irritating in its simplicity but if you are in the mood not to be challenged then its great.

I like it, I kept turning the pages, althought the story dragged a little. I would like to see more romance
