“The kiss stripped away the remaining tatters of his doubts and defenses, and Lance knew with certainly, by the swelling of his heart, that he had bonded with Tim completely. He was in love. He was a one-man dog, and Tim was it for him.”
I had a whole review written out then the page refreshed and POOF *sobs*
So this is going to be short and to the point.
Tim and Sheriff Lance are ADORKABLE.
There was so many funny interactions and cute, feely romance which is the reason I read romance.
Tim was awkward and clumsy and Lance was prickly and about to be knocked on his behind by love. And I loved it.
Lance deceiving Tim was not cool even if it brought out some beautiful moments between them that maybe we wouldn't have got to see otherwise if Lance wasn't in the form of 'Chance'.
Also not making the conscious effort to tell Tim was not cool.
Lily, while charming and funny at times, most times was annoying and I'm still unsure if I like her, she meddles which again, can be funny but there's this line that she has no respect for so I can't help but think,
B--ch, sit the hell down. Your son is Sheriff, not you.
I wasn't going to read on, nothing bad I just wasn't sure to bother but think I'll give the second book a go.
Overall this book was joy to read. It was romance and charm and laughter and they're my favorite reason's for reading romance.
It was new beginnings, falling in love and small town charm.
Tim has fallen on hard times, his ex boss stole his work and passed it off as his own and ran Tim out of town. Now in the middle of nowhere he has six months to engeneer a new rose for room and board in a little cabin in Lances town. If he doesn't get it right or get his own business up and running he is soon going to be homeless and begging for scraps. However he can't seem to stop messing up and stumbling around McHottie the Sheriff, really bad with people he gets the Sheriffs attention just not in any good way.
Lance is the last of his siblings to get paired up and really he doesn't want to. What could he offer anyone really? He is married to his job, then in comes awkward-smelling-of-pot Tim who stumbles his words, trips over shovels, and gives off a faint whiff of fear anytime Lance is near.If those weren't enough signs to compel a deeper investigation Tim lies about his own name, now Lance has to investigate the only way Tim will talk to him. As his dog, unfortunately his dog really, really can't stop his tail-a-wagging around our awkward Tim.
When disaster strikes and secrets revealed, hearts are broken and friendships burned. I LOVED this story and will defo be getting the next two in the series. Everything was well done, the characters were amazingly well developed, the plot believable and the world itself enchanting.
Eli you did a great job! Keep up the good work :D
This book turned one of the worst days of my life into a happy warm snuggly evening, and I will keep this memory alive for years to come. And hopefully there'll be more of this series to fill in those years. Seriously I'm already looking forward to book 5!
Ms Easton / Jensen, if you read this, thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
This is a fun plot with some good tense moments. There are a few times while reading where you feel like you have fallen into some Shakespearian tragic comedy, with everyone unintentionally misunderstanding everyone else and everything going wrong that could. But the author holds the plot and your interest as a reader well and you have to keep reading in the hope of beating the baddies and finding the HEA. There are some very steamy mm love scenes, but all woven skilfully into the plot. Definitely worth a read if you are looking for a new angle to your standard shifter romance.
