Are you looking for a cd that has it all? Then look no further. The incomparable Peddlers, "How Cool is Cool" is way cool. There are cuts on this awesome cd to satify the epicurian in every jazz enthusiast' taste. The Peddlers deserve to share the spotlight with timeless jazz artists such as John Coltrane and Charlie Parker, with their renditions of jazz standards such as "The Prime of my Life" and the Streisand hit song "People". Lose yourself in the haunting and beautiful "Lost Continent." This tune is the score from a 60's horror flick that boasts the same name. You'll never be same after listening to "A Boy in Love." One of my favorites is "Nobody Likes Me." My brother owned an album titled "Three in a Cell", by the Peddlers and believe it or not, as a 7-year old, I fell in love with the catchy tunes and raw melodic beat. It's nothing like I've ever heard before. I was ecstatic to learn that it is now on CD. Pick up your copy today..Buy one for a friend.

My dad saw these play in the 60s in Blackburn Lancashire, and he said they brought the house down! Years later he saw Freewheelin in a 2nd hand shop and bought it. We grew up listening to this, and ive always liked it. I just had to buy this when i saw it had come out on CD, long overdue! Great songs, classy, jazzy and masterful these guys are all superb musicians, ahead of their time in some respects to their sound. This truly IS cooler than cool!

I saw the Peddlers back in the seventies. What a fabulous sound !!!!. A band with real talent. A sound that will never age. At last I,ve found them on CD, and the memories came flooding back. Oh what bliss !!!!.

THE PEDDLERS HAD ONLY A FEW YEARS IN THE LIMELIGHT, BUT THE MUSIC THEY MADE WAS EXTREMELY GOOD. A MUSICAL FUSION OF JAZZ/BLUES AND R&B POP. JUST LISTEN TO THIS DOUBLE C.D AND YOUR`LL SEE JUST HOW GOOD THEY WERE. THEY DID`NT RECORD A LOT OF ALBUMS BUT THE ONES THEY DID WAS GREAT.

EVEN THOUGH THESE TRACKS WAS RECORDED IN THE 60`s & EARLY 70`s IT SOUNDS AS IF IT WAS RECORDED YESTERDAY,FRESH AND VIBRANT, SHOWING THERE TALENT OFF WELL. SINGER & KEYBOARDIST ROY PHILLIPS HAS A SUPERB VOICE,LISTEN TO "Time after Time", TRACK 1 C.D A AND "Little Red Rooster",TRACK 11 C.D B.THIS C.D HAS 42 TRACKS , AND TO PICK A BAD ONE IS HARD TO DO.IF YOU LIKE GOOD COOL MUSIC PLAYED WELL YOUR`LL LOVE THIS ONE.WELL WORTH HAVING IN YOUR COLLECTION.YOUR`LL NEVER STOP PLAYING IT.I COULD RANT ON ABOUT THIS DOUBLE C.D ALL DAY,BUT I`d SOONER PLAY IT AGAIN..

I Played keyboards in a Keys/Bass/Drums trio in Australia in the late 70s through to the mid 80s. We heard what the Peddlers were doing in the UK, and loved it.

Through those years, we learnt a lot of the Peddlers arrangements of old standards, and just loved performing them. At the time ,we were considered to be one of the most forward thinking musical trios in Oz, and I believe that the performances of our versions of the Peddlers songs had a lot to do with that.

I'm not saying that we were near as good as them, but they influenced us immensely. And by listening to them, we became better players.
Since that wonderful time, (mind you, the three of us are all still playing professionally, grey hairs 'n all), I had lost my original Peddlers albums. So glad to be able to access them again .

After all these years, these guys STILL have an originality that has never been copied or compromised. In the 2010s, we are so used to hearing perfect audio quality, that when we listen back to the recordings of several decades ago, we can hear not only the lower quality audio, but also the great variance from track to track in the audio and equalisation. Doesn't matter!!!!!

What Roy, Trevor and Tab did then was just SOOOOOOOOOOOOO unique, and will always be.

Great musicianship, unique arrangements, inspired playing!!!

If you haven't heard them before, do yourself a really big favour, ............listen !!!

Denis,

Australia.

The Peddlers had the knack of being the most different group of the sixties. The other reviewers have suggested everything that you need to know about this class act. This double features the bands C B S years and it seems like only yesterday that I bought two amazing singles by them in the late sixties Girlie & Birth both featured here. A fantastic collection and well worth buying.

I remember the Peddlers from the late sixties when a girl friend introduced me together with Brut after shave (very expensive and exclusive- then) They were a very exciting and classy clubby type band, just the thing for romantic couples. Musically the best. Roy Phillips punches hard as a performer, both on the keyboard and vocally being incredibly expressive- better than Ray Charles I think.
The trio were evenly matched as performers each to their own, but Phillips did on the Hammond (actually I think he played a Lowry Heritage, but similar to the Hammond)what many Hammond players don't seem to be able to manage and that is to be tasteful as well as being technically accomplished. So many Hammond players these days are frankly boring with their harmonically narrow and frantically frenzied attack on the instrument.Phillips did to their brand of soul/blues what Eric Clapton did to the so called blues and that was to basically make it very much less humdrum, boring and predictable. The Hammond as an instument can sound very dated, churchy and Sandy MacPherson, but it can also sound real cool and sexy and this is what you got from the Peddlers. I love to hear those hypnotically mellow Hammond chords droning away in the background with the Leslie on slow- there's frankly nothing like it available to listen to today. Everyone seems to have gone mad in attempt to play at the speed of light with little regard to good chord structures that were prevalent in all the old standards.
