After reading Samantha Fontien books (wee bookie of nookie) I needed to read the rest of her books. I am so glad I did as this book is beyond epic. It's written in so many different POV's I don't normally like books like that as they can be very confusing or drift away from the story....this book is not like that at all. Never once was I confused or felt the story was drifting way.

You get to know all the characters the way they feel what's going on with them by mostly its Rebecca, Lucy, Jackson and Jason.

This books takes you on an emotional roller coaster of betrayal, loss, hope, friendship, new jobs but most of all love in anyway that is possible friendship, old love, new love it's a beautiful book a very well written.

I don't like to give too much of the story away in my reviews the what happened? is it a cliffy? will there be a hero? or will it make you ugly cry? well I am sorry but if you want to know the answer to them you will just have to read the book to find out for yourself. Believe me you will not be disappointed.

It's most definitely a re-read for me it kept me wanting more with each page. I can't wait to read the rest of Samantha's books and new ones to come. As I know they will be just as amazing as this one.

One thing I will say tho....... #SamLovesJason

I love this book, the story is one of two books in the butterflies series, this is one of those books that you get half way through and check to see how close to the end you, as it seemed to go on forever with so much going on, it's written really well, it kicks off streight into drama, and it just keeps going with enough anticipation to keep you gripped, the story flicks through the main characters pov, as there life's change dramatically different homes, friend, lifestyles jobs, from one relationship to another with so many adorable characters which brings love triangles into it all but who will be the happy ever after for who??? How will it all end?? Brilliant recommended read x

Wow such a fantastic story love Rebecca and Lucy. Loved watching Rebecca go from a very shy and timid "housewife" to a woman that knows her mind and goes for what she wants and Lucy is just as fabulous with her drive and passion and not being anyone's fool together they are a force to be reckoned with, then along come two very sexy amazing men and the story just gets better. This is a story that you can sink your teeth into and loose loads of sleep over can't wait fir the next book xoxo

This was a book that I was itching to get my hands on as I know the author, you don't get nearer the truth on the bare bones of the story .. It's honest, heartfelt and organic. The wording is in such a way that you can visualise what and where things are and how they look .. Really enjoyed the book.

HASH(0x946d7528) out of 5 stars Hard to Catch indeed... 1 Jun. 2013
By Jessica - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Samantha Fontien's new book `How to Catch Butterflies' is based on the fact that `a girl should be like a butterfly. Pretty to see, but hard to catch.'
Well Rebecca Keane and Lucy Watters are certainly that.
Rebecca is forced to reevaluate her life after her boyfriend- of 7 years- beats her over the course of their relationship and takes things a little too far one night. She lands on her feet with the help of her best friend Lucy.
These girls embark on a journey of betrayal, lost love, new love, amazing careers and reigniting their friendship.
Rebecca turns to a longtime friend, Jason Hallow, after her boyfriend, David, took things too far, and things change between them. Jason has sat on the sidelines and loved Rebecca for years. Rebecca is still learning to spread her wings and fly and Jason slips through her grasp. She moves on, always thinking of him and missing him. Rebecca changes and becomes a new strong and confident woman. And during this change meets the enigmatic Jackson Harvey. (Insert sex God swoon).
Jackson is by all accounts a man-whore (aren't they all?) but Rebecca catches his eye and he is determined to catch this butterfly. Meanwhile Jason still longs for Rebecca and she does for him (to an extent). He is determined not to watch her walk away with another man again...
My thoughts on this little love triangle? Jackson does it for me. Completely. Jason fell for the timid Rebecca that sat at home and cowered in the face of her boyfriend. She was always the perfect `wifey'. But Jackson knows who Rebecca is now and who she is determined to be. They are perfectly matched but the question still remains... Who is she going to choose? (Please pick Jackson!)
On the sidelines of this book, Lucy is having her own love triangle. She had been dating George De Vere for months when she finds out a dirty little secret of his. And she doesn't wait around to hear any explanation. Lucy is the strong willed one from the beginning, living with her own set of rules of how men should be treated. She let George in and he broke her. But not for long, because (sexy swoon) Christopher Harper comes in and takes charge. Making sure Lucy makes room for him in his life. George doesn't give up easily. Frequently waiting for her outside of her work and home just sitting patiently, waiting for her to realize he doesn't give up. But she doesn't forgive easily...
This book is so complex and enthralling. It's one of those books where it takes you a bit to get in the groove of the author (or maybe that's just because there's so much British slang- which I of course love!- that I am unfamiliar with) but when you do... you glide through effortlessly. This book is amazing! I love it so much and cannot wait for book two to see what happens! (Yes, you get cut off at the end, but you're able to deal with it, kind of.)
Another thing is that the author has titled each chapter with a song. Now, if you listen to that song during that chapter... wow! It totally gives you the feel of the words and emotions of the characters, so I definitely recommend doing that!
All in all this book is beyond any words of praise. It's beautiful, gut wrenching and funny- really funny! You will not regret this book

The story "How to Catch a Butterfly" By Samantha Fontien is a story based on Two best friends as they deal with relationships , work, and journeying through life to figure out what exactly it holds for them . This book tells the Story of Rebecca and Lucy as they face the tests of relationship while also balancing work.
Ms.Fontien tells the story of best friends Rebecca and Lucy as they journey through life and the hardships of relationships.Rebecca is a career girl who has been in a serious relationship for many years. As Rebecca thrives in the business world where everything has always come easy, yet her personal life has just erupted and not for the best . Whereas her best friend Lucy is not looking for a relationship but finds herself trying not to fall what seems like Mr.Perfect .
The story is a little slow picking up but once I really started reading it was like I was getting pulled in.Now when reading the story is told mainly from Rebecca and Lucys point of view but we do get to see what the men in their lives think about their relationships .There are a lot of pov to keep up with but I find that the author makes it easy to follow .Rebecca finds out that starting over is not always easy and sometimes the misunderstandings and complications that come alone are all apart of begin with someone. While Lucy learns that love comes with their ups & down but sometimes walls have to come down , trust built but nothing is perfect
There are many steamy scenes but there are many misunderstanding in between yet you still get to see the relationship between the two friends while dealing with love & life.
When I finished this book i thought about it for days after I finished working out my feelings toward it . The fact that it stayed on my mind that long and has managed to pull me in without realizing it to me is mind blowing . This books is defiantly worth reading if only for the ending . So go get to know Rebecca,Jackson,Jason,Lucy Christopher and George De Verend and see where love ,hate ,devotion and heartache takes them and where true love just might find them.

After getting over the idea that How To Catch Butterflies (HTCB) was not what I originally thought it was about (I thought it was going to be a much heavier, darker read), I found myself enjoying it more. This is one of the reasons why I tend not to read teasers or excerpts from any book. It can skew your perception or thinking of a book and not always for the better. Once I stopped pouting and really began to read the story for what it was, I really did enjoy it. This is a debut novel for British author Samantha Fontien. As with most debut novels, there are things I loved and things I see the author will mature and evolve with more experience.

What made this book a beautiful Monarch Butterfly: Well first off the men. I know it isn't always about the men but in HTCB, the men aside from David (who is ugly and evil) are all sorts of beautiful and not just physically. You just might find yourself not being able to pick one over the other. I know I said it wasn't just the physical but goodness knows these men know how to take care of a woman in all things flirty and oh so dirty.
Jason--knows of Rebecca's past and present. He has always been in the shadows and now has an opportunity. He is attractive, successful and makes Rebecca feel safe. Will she let him protect her heart?
Jackson--well this man is all sorts of beautiful. He is sexy, driven, assertive and arrogant but when it comes to Rebecca, he can be brought to his knees and just might open his heart to more than just a one night stand. He brings out a fire in Rebecca that she never knew could be present. Will he open her up to a whole new world of love and trust or is he just a scam?
George--has managed to get Lucy to focus on things other than work and her career. He is persistent and great between the sheets. But he just might have one too many secrets.
Chris Harper--he is the epitome of a man. Absolutely gorgeous, bides his time, confident and will make you quiver with want and need. Will he be the one to open Lucy's heart for good?

Something else I do love about the book is that it is set in England. I don't know what it is about England but it draws me in. This very thing I loved about the book also prevented me from giving it more stars and was like the ugly gray moth. While I appreciated, the authenticity of the book being English, there were times that the slang and some of the jargon was too British--in that I had no idea what the word or phrase meant. There were some I could decipher form the context of the word/phrase. But others that I just glossed over. When I had to take time to try and figure out the definition, it distracted me from the story itself. I feel that if you are going to have a book open to a diverse audience, the slang should either be universal or somehow explained within the context of the story. I would even take having a glossary at the back of the book since I am not opposed to having the distinct cultural slang present in the book. But I do want to understand what I am reading.
Slang aside, Samantha Fontien's writing style is unique in some ways. She is very descriptive in her telling of the setting or atmosphere of a scene. The physical details of rooms or buildings and other things are very detailed. There were times I loved this and other times found it superfluous.
Another aspect of the story I found Samantha did quite well was the inter relationships of the characters. There were quite a few of them but you never had the stories mixed up or felt like you were being tossed around like a salad. I felt like she did well with character development and felt on more than one occasion like hurling my iPad at the wall with the stupidity of Rebecca and Lucy. These were two very strong willed and independent women. I love that they weren't pushover, submissive types. Although, I wanted them to cave just a little bit when it came to the gorgeous men that these ladies ruined for all others.
I do have to mention that Samantha Fontien does leave us with a pretty big cliffhanger. I really hope she gets book two done soon because I need some answers!
Overall a good debut. Good story, good characters. I'm looking forward to the next book. D 3.5/5
