I don't know what made me pick up this book from Amazon in the first place, but certainly I had to go back and look at it again to remember what was in it. No, nothing important. First of all, it is not about fashionistas, it is about shoping all day, all year long. It has tips about shopping on line, in auctions, in sales, when bargains come along, etc, etc. Shopping is not the proper way to become a fashionista -not to mention the word "budget" of the title which indicates that you have limited resources for shopping. To become a fashionista, you have to have imagination. Chapter 3, Reality dressing: I am an hourglass figure. Yes, so, what next? Why there are no suggestions as to what flatters this type of body? Chapter 4, Finding your personal style. I did the test, I am a socialite. I don't think so, sometimes I am a socialite, sometimes I am sporty, sometimes I am a romantic. Is there any woman in the world who is just one thing? Chapter 5, Take inventory. This can be done by a girl under 17 who hasn't yet shop enough, or by someone with very limited funds, everybody else has enough clothes to fill a small shop (if you hang them properly in separate hangers). Do I need all these clothes? No, but i have reason to throw them away, the fit me, they are new, what would be my excuse? in 8 Quick Dressy outfits and 8 casual outfits what changes is the shoes, the dressy are with black pumps, the casual with sneakers. That was it? everybody knows that sneakers means casual, not to mention that the spandex t-shirt that exists in a dressy outfit must be a mistake because there is no cheaper fabric in the world than spandex, and dressy should not be made with cheap materials.Read more ›

This is a really useful little book! Kathryn Finney explains in much detail how to plan and organize your wardrobe, where to save and where to splurge. Her advice on designer outlets etc is very good, too, but it would be fantastic if there would be a U.K. edition of this little gem!

I really enjoyed this book! The author gives great tips on everything on buying a capsule wardrobe on the cheap, how to make desisions on clothes purchasing, budgeting and all sorts of other great stuff! In this time of the credit crunch it really makes a useful and enjoyable read!

If you absolutely love fashion and shopping, want to develop yourself further as a fashionista and especially if you live somewhere in the United States, this is the perfect book for you. It has great tips on where to shop, what to shop for, how to obtain special fashion items and even how to get into fashion shows. Buy it now!

Unfortunately, if you live outside the United States, in say the Netherlands in Europe, most of the shopping tips were of little use. There were certainly some interesting suggestions regarding basic closet pieces and tips for dressing your best. However, just as things started to get interesting here (I found out I have a triangle figure, for instance), the book stopped. There were no suggestions as to what cut of clothing would look best on my figure type, what shoes go with what type of outfit, how to choose the colours to wear, etc. Apparently the author supposes that it is very easy to see whether something fits and looks good on you or not, but in practice I could certainly do with some advice. I am not a fashionista but had the idea that this book would help me become one. Sadly, this book did meet those expectations at all.
