The text in the book is nice, but what really elevates the book is the utterly adorable illustrations. They are bright, funny and filled with lots of details in the background, and the loving relationship between the boy and grandad really shines through.
Definitely recommended as a lovely book to read with your child or grandchild.
The story is simple, but delightful. It is a typical day that a grandparent may have with a child, but from the reverse perspective. This is a great idea and it is nice to see that my Dad is not the only Grandparent to ply their brood with copious amount of ice-cream, although it is not good for them! The illustration is colourful and clear with the words being easy to read on each page. There is perhaps not quite enough to look at on the page and once the initial fun of the idea is over, re-reads may be a little difficult. Luckily, there is a cat involved that can be found on every page for a little extra visual fun.
`How to Babysit a Grandad' is a great idea and drawn really well. It is just that the story is a little too basic and does not capture the imagination quite as well as it could. However, this is still a great book for a potential Granddad to read to his Grandchild should they come to stay for the day.
