The House On Skull Mountain, Vodoo, witchcraft involved. Distant relatives are invited to their grandmother's house after her death and to have the will read. They've lead their lives for years not knowing to find they are distantly related. Suspense, tragedy and contentment ends in. The Mephisto Waltz, possessed by the devil, father and daughter of a wealthy family are interested in another family of the mother, father, and the one daugther they have, They stop at nothing to destroy them. Heartache and suffering.

Thankyou Fox "Midnite Movies". But I have to say I got this solely for "..Waltz" at a terrific price, and as it turned out, a terrific Widescreen (1.85.1) lovely colour print. The story is a bit like "Hands of Orlac" in it's basic premise of gifted muso using black magic (I think) to take over the body of a gullible much younger man and thus live on enjoying all the plaudits of his stardom as the world's finest pianist. Curt Jurgens is great as the ageing pianist and his scenes with Barbara Parkins have a real charge. But it doesn't stop there! We also can enjoy a very intense quite erotic Jacqueline Bissett in what I feel is one of her best roles as Alan Alda's wife (he is the "young mucician" taken in by Curt and Parkins. I have never liked Alda, and he doesn't change my opinion here, but that's just me.) So a good, well paced, directed and written, if slightly dated, romantic, necromantic thriller. Highly recomended. Why 4 stars? That's because, possibly my loss, I have no desire at all to see "House on Skull Mountain", tho I did check the print and it's very good. For "Mephisto" alone it would be 5 stars.

Almost an all Black cast and really crappy acting in "Skull mountain" added to Alan Alda (MASH) in "Waltz" makes this a great early 70's US horror package. Well worth a punt ... especially good for a rainy Sunday evening when there's nothing else to watch on the box. No so much chillin' as cold!

Be aware that this film is in American format, I had to view it via my computer (linked to the TV). The films themselves are great. 3 stars because they are not in PAL
