A.A. Milne's creations are masterpieces of their kind, and this follow-up to the first Pooh book manages to outdo the original, a perfect piece of children's literature, each word in exactly the right place, with a sly, wry humour all its own.
The final chapter, in which Pooh and Christopher Robin take their leave of each other, is as moving in its way as any literary leavetaking, being also a tenderly profound metaphor for the poignant move from childhood into adolescence, and the putting away of 'childish things'.
An imperishable classic, for any age.
