3.0 out of 5 stars House On Mermaid Point 6 Sept. 2014
By sunshine days - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I was very excited when I heard that Wendy Wax had added a new novel in her series of home renovations following her previous books Ocean Beach, Ten Beach Road, and Christmas at the Beach. The characters had become like old friends who you enjoy catching up with. I have to say that I was a little disappointed in this book. I do not think the new characters were very well defined and the side characters from previous books were pretty much absent except for a few references here and there. I think the object of a book is to make you care about the main characters in order to connect with the ongoing storyline. The main character in this book, whose home they were renovating, was not very likable nor very well defined. The renovations were a little sketchy and hard to imagine as the work progressed. There were parts that were very well written and very touching and I still want to read any future novels to see what Madeline, Nicole, Avery, Kyra tackle in their next project, but I do hope the author will include the side characters like Chase and Joe and Madeline's son, Andrew to make a more satisfying storyline. The ending was very well written and very moving. I would encourage you to give it a read.

5.0 out of 5 stars like the ones before 1 Sept. 2014
By Laurel-Rain Snow - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
The women came together for another renovation, like the ones before. Reminiscent of the very first renovation of the house that was all they had left after the Ponzi scheme had drained them of their finances and needing their own reconstruction, this new project would bring unexpected gifts.

An unlikely group of women, they would become best friends as they worked to recreate a house and their lives.

Nicole's brother had bilked them of their money, but she earned her place as a friend to the others. In their first and subsequent projects, Avery would be the architect and head of construction, while her mother Deirdre would be the interior designer. Those two would gradually reconnect after a lifetime of estrangement.

Maddie would need to pick up the pieces left after a ruined marriage, with her daughter Kyra and grandson Dustin in tow following her abandonment by Dustin's celebrity father.

They all came with baggage and learned to rebuild their lives along with the houses.

The show Do Over would be a side effect of the first renovation, but it has somehow turned their lives into a caricature of what they had wanted. Being photographed at every turn does have its downside.

In this newest project, the women convene on Mermaid Point, in the Florida Keys. Like the previous projects, the destination had been a surprise selection by the network executives. William Hightower, the owner of this private island home, a rock star fresh out of rehab, needs a renovation of his interior life as well.

What will happen to this group of people, connected by a series of projects that have become more of a burden than a gift? How will the wear and tear of the renovations, along with the irritations wrought by the network head, bring some issues and feelings to a head?

I loved The House on Mermaid Point and how the author brought back the women, while adding new interesting characters to the mix. In the end, I felt a rush of mixed emotions at the unexpected resolution that came to them all, while throwing wide the windows on a fresh new beginning. 5.0 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars More, More, More - please Wendy Wax more of this series 4 Aug. 2014
By Susan Trepagnier - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
The account is under my husband - I am Susan Trepagnier. Although I am a voracious reader, this is my first review of a book, but I have such mixed feelings about the ending of this book. Not because it didn't end well, but because I hated to finish the last page. I started with Ten Beach Road and everyone should do the same. If you haven't, go back and read the first and second of the series before you read The House on Mermaid Point. Of the three, I believe this was my favorite.
If Wendy Wax reads these reviews, she needs to know
I want more - more of Chase and Avery, more of Joe and Nikki and I definitely want more of William the Wild and Maddie. Plus, doesn't Kyra have to find a guy? I kept thinking Kyra and Troy were going to fight and finally end up together, but that didn't happen. Even though Daniel took care of her in the end, she deserves a complete life and she definitely deserves more than Daniel Deranian.
I'm not sure, though, that I want another death.

2.0 out of 5 stars Meh..... 14 Dec. 2016
By J. Cleveland - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I did not enjoy this read. I was very excited to read it as it was recommended based on other books I have read and it was based in the Florida Keys which is my favorite place to vacation to in the states. This was a loooong boring predictable book. If you like uneventful books this is the book for you. There was just not enough going on to keep my interest it took me a few weeks to read this as I couldn't keep my attention to it AND I brought this to the airport with me and a 6 hour flight, and many hours at the pool before I finally finished this. Most books I read within 5 days during a normal work week. I am glad to be done with this so I can move on to better books on my shelf. Good bye Dustbin & Billyum I will not miss you!
5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating! Spectacular! Exciting! I LOVED!!! Wendy Wax Thank You!!! 24 July 2014

I can't say "enough" about Wendy Wax's writing on Ten Beach Road, Ocean Beach; Wendy is able to capture her audience in the first page and that to me defines an excellent author! It never loses the captivity or excitement throughout the entire book. This was my third book and I hope this series continues. All of her characters bring life within me. Avery, Deirdre, Nikki, Maddie, Kyra, Dustin being the main characters who went through a financial loss due to Nikki's stealing brother and they begin by owning sad shaped house Bella Flora. Their only way to any money is restoration and sell to get back on their feet. These women never knew one another until meeting at Bella Flora (Ten Beach Road); they were all part owners.

To watch how these ladies work together under horrible conditions and how they become family to one another is heartwarming! One can't help but become each character. This book being the latest brought joy at their reunion, laughter meaning "out loud laughter", tears almost ever emotion possible. This book is chucked full of a fabulous storyline with never a dull moment. They are in the midst of a T.V. Show called "Do Over"! I loved this book every sentence, every character it's well worth the read~all three are! The first two books are on audio which I loved this is not right now and I missed that. My husband read this book as well; I don't necessarily think it's only for women especially if you like reconstructing a home into beauty. If you like relationship forever books this is one for you.

I can't imagine anyone not liking The House On Mermaid Point, it's a must read!! I hope Wendy will continue with this series; I surely wanted it to go ON!!!!!! Wendy Wax you are a phenomenal author!!! You capture my mind, heart and being!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!
