House Of Harlow

“I believe that beauty lies in contrast. The idea of bringing two or more unlikely elements together to create one striking piece has influenced all of my House of Harlow collections”

For Spring 2013, House of Harlow 1960 designer Nicole Ritchie drew inspiration from the contrast of nomadic tribal jewellery and unique organic shaped stones, linking both in a modern, cohesive story. Unexpected details and textures create a sense of complexity throughout the collection.

Antique silver pieces created by wandering nomadic tribes served as the influence for many of the collections engravings and textures, including high polish, cross hatching and matte details. The natural shapes of raw precious stones were recast in a variety of metals and wrapped in micro-pavé treatment, creating an effect usually reserved for fine jewellery.

Nicole also found inspiration in horseshoe nails, modernising this classic motif by manipulating the shape into wrapped rings, bangles, pendants and earrings. Engraved details and hints of micro-pavé gave the theme an unexpected touch. Always one for unexpected details, Nicole also reversed the typical arrangement of jewellery for this collection, and used upside down set stones to present a modern take on the solitaire pendant, rings, diamond studs and hoops.

House of Harlow 1960's signature sunburst pieces and five station necklace are reworked in faux shargreen, a new material for the season. House of Harlow 1960's wide-ranging pieces are carried at upper tier department stores, specialty boutiques and select online stores.
