I bought this fridge for less than advertised here and overall am pleased with it. There is plenty of fridge capacity but I'd say the freezer drawers on the top and bottom are somewhat small. I figure the top one is meant to be shallow as it is a fast freeze area but the bottom drawer, which was the largest in all my previous freezers, has not much depth front to back. There is one temperature gauge for both fridge and freezer so they can't be set seperately but that has posed no problems so far. It has a fast freeze and ambient temperature button, the idea being when you first put your weekly shop in to freeze then you press fast freeze to get everything frozen quickly so that the freezer temperature doesn't drop in the wait. I can't imagine I'll be using that much, the temperature change must be negligible and I don't think the energy consumption would be slight while this button was pressed. The main drawback of this appliance is that it is only supplied with one levelling foot. If you had an uneven floor surface then this will cause a problem. I've had to place a bit of cardboard under one foot to keep the unit stable, which is hardly ideal.

EDIT: after about a year and a half of owning this unit the freezer section has become next to useless. Nothing freezes. Having searched for fixes online it seems that this is a common problem. I would not recommend buying this fridge freezer.

My fridge freezer has worked fine for nearly two years. Then it developed a fault. The fridge stopped cooling and the freezer compartment started building up ice. Strange for a supposed frost free freezer. So I checked the forums.

Turns out there is a known design fault with this Fridge Freezer. To which Hotpoint deny all knowledge of it. The freezer cooler unit ices up & you have to take the back inside freezer compartment off & defrost the whole unit. It turns out you have to do this nearly ever six weeks or so once the fault develops. Hotpoint will not take any responsibility for the fault or replace the unit. I'm personally going to call them & find out if this is true. If so I'll be calling Trading Standards to see where I stand. I'll let you know.

So I would avoid this product

A relative bought this fridge freezer just over a year ago (not from Amazon, but from a local high street retailer who has proven very unsupportive). Twice the freezer section stopped working, requiring the call-out of an engineer. The second time it broke, my relative was charged a hefty repair fee because the "12 month guarantee" had expired by two weeks; though after many phone calls, emails and letters, Hotpoint have finally agreed to refund the repair costs. Searching the web has revealed that other people have experienced the same freezer failure with this model.

We bought all hotpoint appliances 5 years ago. I loved the fridge freezer which I had in the graphite colour and the layout but I definitely would steer clear of hotpoint again. The fridge was always really noisy, one night I thought someone was trying to break in! Its meant to be frost free but the freezer keeps frosting up and twice in the last three months it has been WARM inside. This morning the high temperature alarm woke us.

Currently researching what new one to buy. Looks good but not durable.
