Product Description

Dan Karaty, Kylie Minogue's dance guru, presents this exercise routine aimed at the legs, bums and tums. Features moves from some of Kylie's more famous videos.

From Amazon.co.uk

For the first few minutes of The Hotpants Workout you might think you've tuned into Top of the Pops, as female dancers in skimpy, shimmery--yep you guessed it--hotpants dance around. Choreographer to the stars Dan Karaty maintains that Kylie and Britney have fantastic bodies thanks to dance. But the opening case study of a real dancer who had to get her figure back after a period of inactivity due to illness is unnecessary. It's only once the charming Karaty goes into the workout that there is no doubt he knows how to put across his point: dance is indeed a fun way to get a good body.

The session is divided into six sections which target legs, thighs, burning fat, waist, abs and glutes. "Bounce" features a sexy bounce move, "Slide" is based on a sexy slide from leg to leg, "Rush" is a fast fun section, and by the time you reach the slower "Groove" section you might kid yourself that you're just steps away from looking like Karaty's confident back-up dancers. "Two Step" is the hardest of the six sections in terms of coordination, but it's not impossible. The only disappointing section is the final cooldown. It's not as fun as the rest, and the addition of abs and glutes might complete the fitness aspect but doesn't gel with the rest of the up-beat funky workout. Not for serious fitness fanatics but undeniably fun--and it'll do wonders for your dance-floor cred. --Lorna V

I empathised totally with the dancer at the beginning of the video. It's the bottom half of her body which needs attention...I know how she feels! It's qute motivating to see her at her weekly weigh-ins. Admittedly, you don't need to see this bit every time you work out, so I put the tape on and let it run whilst I change into my workout clothes and move the coffee table. By the time this intro has finished, I'm psyched up and ready to go!
I have real issues with exercise motivation, especially alone and at home, but this video is so much fun, I look forward to getting home from work and getting straight into a workout before eating. I do it every day (and those who know me will know how unfeasible that is!)
The sections are just the right length and pace, and I didn't feel threatened by the dancers behind Dan Karaty. They all have different figures, but look fit and fab! However, don't let Dan tell you that Rush is the hardest section...it's way too much fun to be hard! The abs and glute workout at the end is relentless, but necessary. Dan keeps you focussed by reminding you of your technique, so you really feel the effects. Two Step has some tough footwork in it, but is brilliantly lightened up by Dan encouraging us to freestyle with our arms, and pose (vogue style) in the breaks!
I love this video and it is part of my life now! Even though I am out of breath and sweaty when I finish this workout, it doesn't really register because I've had so much fun! And I feel a certain smugness at being able to do 40 minutes exercise everyday, which is more than my hardcore gym-going friends manage!
Thanks Dan, you've changed my life!

Ok so lets be honest here im not a good dancer and i weigh a lot, but i thought what the heck just give it a go and i did..... admittedly the first time i put it on i was all over the place trying to keep up ! but after a week of doing this tape i had the moves down and was sweating the pacific ocean at the end of it! Dan is a good motivator and i really enjoy working out to this. Im not gonna lie and say ive lost loads of weight because i havent but i have found that my entire body shape has changed my saddlebag hips have dwindled down and my thighs are slimmer and smoother, my stomach has curves and tone now. I know in my heart ill never be a size 10 and ill probly never wear hotpants but i am so impressed with the change this video has made to my appearance and confidence that im gonna keep going with it as long as possible. I recommend it to anyone wanting to tone up a bit plus have fun....go work that butt guys!

The presenter, Dan Karaty, is a professional choreographer and has worked with Kylie Minogue. He breaks down all the dance steps into simple movements so that anyone can understand. The routines are challenging enough so that you hardly realise you are getting a workout, but not so complicated so as to be difficult to follow. If you like dancing, this is definitely for you. I did it only about 3 or 4 times before starting to see results (I am reasonably fit). This workout lifts and smooths the whole hip area of the body and is ideal for cardio vascular. The only let down is the floor work at the end - ok, you get to work your abs, which is a good idea, but be warned that the glutes exercise could be harmful to your back, especially if you have an existing or previous injury/strain (as I do). For best results, just skip the end!!

I have loads of work out dvd's but this one is different, as you see the results so quickly. I've been doing this under a week and i've lost weight and my stomachs flatter and my tighs are slimmer! I'd certainly tell anyone who doubts work out dvds to try this. You know you've done a work out when you've done this, your legs throb from the pain he puts you through, and your abs will never hurt as much as they do through his sit up section, but it works, and Dan's really hot so that evens out the pain theory! The cool down section is a let down, but I have the ministry of sound work out dvd as well and i always do that cool down as its a million times better and stops you getting stiff.

Dan is great through, he talks to you like you're a human, he doesn't talk down to you like a lot of work out dvd presenters do, and i think it is really possible to loose a stone and half in six weeks with this work out, once you get into it you don't even notice you've been doing it for an hour, and you don't really need any dance experience to be able to do this, I don't keep in time and some of the moves i can't do but i alter them so i can do the best i can do and its paying off! It really makes you sweat and i think thats a positve sign of loosing weight!

Im a dancer and i found that even after a couple of trys this work out works. Especially around the thighs. As people have said it doesnt really combat the stomach but for an all rounder of your lower half and cardio it works. It can be tricky some of the movements on carpet so i would wear shoes or totally bare feet. He explains everything in detail and movements are continuously repeated in each section which makes it easy to follow. You can either do the whole work out or just pick which section you want to do as each has a specific target zone - which i found helpful. If you stick at it it will definetly improve your fitness and tonning as it is hard work if you do it full out.

It does what it says on the cover - easy to follow and quick results
