I am currently supporting a 14 year old boy at the school i teach at. He's in my tutor/form group and he's got a bad reputation. But recently he asked me for help in dealing ith his anger. So i searched good old Amazon and found this book!
I have read lots of theory on this issue but nothing beats this book for putting it into language that kids can understand and practical ideas that they can relate to. The book gives no ready-answers and straight away says that it will be hard work. I know that this book will help my kid realise that he is NORMAL and that he can change for the better. Like all kids, he's a good person at the core and this book is just the vehicle to help him see that himself.
So get this book! It is great for children and adults (parents, teachers, whoever wants to know!). You can tell that Wilde has had many successful years in this area and he is by no means patronising or self-indulgent.
This is a must-read, must buy book!

Although this book is written to be read by the child that has the anger problem, it is full of very useful strategies to be used by a person who is working with a child in this situation. It encourages the child to look at there anger and explore it. Looking at what causes them to become angry and how they could overcome it. I have been able to help a number of children that I work with explore and come to terms with there anger, therefore learning to control it and not allow it to take over their lives. A very useful book for everyone.

The Doc knows what he's talking about. Even though this book is great for children, the techniques and reasonings work for adults as well. The exercises are simple but effective and the illustrations are to the point.
I have only had the book for one day and the techniques are working already. This book is a must for anyone who deals with children on a daily basis.

I am a nine year old boy and before I read this book I got mad nearly every day and when I was half way through it I could already see massive improvements in my anger. It really works!!!! I felt really upset when I found out that my mum got it but now I am really grateful. My life has been a lot better since I got the book and it has got fun and funny stuff in it that could really help you. For example, on the anger survey at the beginning of the book my anger rate was 40 and today when I have done the survey at the end of the book my anger score when DOWN to 22. It's made me feel much happier and confident that I can control my anger a lot better and I absolutely can't wait to get More Hot Stuff to Help Kids Chill Out.

I am this little boys mum and I am astounded the difference this has made in my little fella. He was so angry all the time and since reading the book he now understands what anger is and has a better way of dealing with it. In the last six days he has looked through the book and done all the exercises himself. I said to him that it was private only for him but he has been excited and shared his new information with me. It has brought us closer together as mum and son and there are a great deal less fireworks. Thank goodness for Jerry Wilde writing such a great book it has changed the dynamics in our family. He has just asked me to buy More Hot Stuff to help kids Chill Out and we are really looking forward to getting that. Go on buy it - it's worth every penny and more!!

This book can be used directly by kids which is what I liked about it. The author has a humorous style with his writing that kept our students interested. The illustrations were clever, too.

My son is 11 years old and I bought this for him to calm him down as he was so angry all the time.
He read this in one day and filled out the little exercises, it was helpful to him as he learnt how to channel his anger and it was helpful to me because I realised what made him angry.
As a result we have our calm loving boy back, happy home and my son his happy as his friends are all coming back to him now because he is calm and happy.
He also took it to school to show his teacher so now he is understood by her now and not always getting into trouble as he was before.

This is a brilliant little book - written for children so that they can easily understand, and will want to read it - it has a few questionnaires, and it gets you to look at what causes us to become angry, that anger is a human emotion, and it has some excellent strategies (that really work, most of the time!) to help children to control their own anger and be able to stop it taking over. Highly recommended if you have a child who has trouble controlling their temper - and it's good for the whole family!

The book is very helpful if you work with or have children with anger issues, however the only problem is if you want to use this book more than once, as it is aimed at the child to complete (like a booklet). The way I overcame this was to transfer the activities into a documment that I could print and reuse again and again.

It has some great idea's that really get children thinking about their attitude and behaviour. Probably best suited to older children but could be adapted to suit younger ones also.
