How much can I tell you that I won't have already mentioned about in my 9F review(s)? Not a great deal TBQH.....
One comment could be made that this character,like Spencer the A4,seems a bit of a "cash-in",as neither is a prominent one & only turns up briefly in a few of the newer stories.Hardly what Awdry purists would call a "real" engine,but Murdoch IS based on a 9F & thankfully Hornby even grace him with an accurate look AND correctly coloured wheels(see my Spencer review).
Wonderfully decorated & with equally impressive performance,this has to be the best offering Margate have brought us in the TTTE range so far.The likes of Gordon,Henry & James are tender driven,whereas this is loco-driven & far,far better.
A 100% re-using of the R2879/R2880 9F moulds(save the single chimney),you'd be hard-pushed to find a better model of a character,even if he does resemble a Cocker Spaniel.
Ten out of ten Hornby & well done.....
