When humans came down from the sky they brought with them the Testament, the guide to the path they must follow if they wish to return to the skies again. Now, in a strange world where only the islands of Japan are inhabitable, the nations of the world vie for power and protect the portions of Japan that they have claimed. And each is armed with its own ultimate weapon: a Roysmoi Opro, an Armor of Deadly Sins. But there may be a far greater threat to mankind than the Roysomi Opro, for the Testament ends abruptly, and it is now the last year. Is this the end of humanity, or can Tori Aoi and his fellow students from the aerial metropolitan ship Musashi somehow affect the course of destiny? Who and what is the HORIZON IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE?

The first four episodes throw a massive amount of information on the setting and characters which can be quite hard to grasp and so it sometimes goes completely over one's head. This is the shows worst aspect, and may take proper concentration or even a re-watch to understand, but once you get the whole 'future-past' and 'repeating history' stuff, this show tells an amazingly entertaining story with some of the best characters, action, comedy, political intrigue, even romance - and just think, this is only the prologue to the overall story.
The author so far has written about 17 volumes which is roughly 7-8 anime seasons worth of content and he's still not finished. Having read the few translated volumes out there myself, I can honestly say that it just gets better and better.
Since it's been a few years since the second season aired, and there hasn't been any news regarding a future season 3, I decided to pick this up to show some support, hopefully this review attracts some of you to give it a chance. It's pretty complicated when it comes to understanding the whole setting/factions and motivations, but when you DO understand, the pay-off is just incredible.
-I find the English dub is not that great, it's merely a word for word translation, so I heavily suggest watching in the original Japanese dub.
I found that even a third of the way through the the second series, I didn't like and therefore care about any of the characters or how their story might end. This series might have worked better with more episodes to explain the backstory and story. The quick summary teaser at the end of the episode, introducing the next episode, irritated me. It was just lots of overlapping voices and random pictures, it served no purpose except to annoy.
I would not let actual children (age 12-15, which are the DVDs individual ratings) watch this DVD, unless you want them to have a pretty gauche and inappropriate sense of humour, or to think objectifying and groping women is acceptable, fun or funny. It's sad to me that stuff like this is still made, however there is market for it, it's just not me. Avoid, if you dislike a lot of "fan service", as you'll regret spending your money. I watched some of this with an adult male friend who also loves Anime, and he gave up on this series before I did!
