About the Author

Peter W. Rosenberger is the president of Standing With Hope, a non-profit prosthetic limb outreach founded by Peter and his wife, Gracie. He has an extensive media, speaking, and writing history where he covers such issues as chronic pain, caregiving, disability, and God s provision in suffering. Whether in writings, live appearances, or his weekly radio show, Peter combines a well-honed sense of humor with practical tips to those buckling under the strain of caring for a loved one. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee, where he has been the primary caregiver for Gracie, a double amputee, for nearly 30 years."

5.0 out of 5 stars The most help and understanding I've ever gotten. 1 Oct. 2016

I am a caregiver for my husband. I was sinking low with the stress of it all. The Lord put this book in my path on facebook one day about two months ago. It has been the biggest help and blessing to me. It gave me so much freedom from guilt, and trying to do it all while my own health wasn't being taken care of. The one thing that set me free was that it is okay to be self-centered sometimes when I need it. My life has totally revolved around my wonderful Godly husband and always putting my needs and feelings in last place.
Thank you so much Peter for writing this encouraging helpful book. It has changed my life. I am on a new road physically, mentally and spiritually with more peace and joy in my life.

Hope for the Caregiver is exactly what the sub-title states: Encouraging Words to Strengthen Your Spirit. Peter Rosenberger's transparency captures the heart of the caregiver because his words capture the reality of the caregiver's days. He uses just enough personal detail to convince the reader that he "gets it" because he "lives it." He gets inside the head of the Caregiver throughout the book but I especially liked the chapter "Don't Believe Everything You Think and "Progress Not Perfection." He encourages Caregivers to take care of themselves so that they can take care of the one that they love. He is practical in his counsel. I highly recommend this book and hope that it is widely read because it not only encourages the caregiver, but it gives glimpse inside the life and heart of Caregivers.
5.0 out of 5 stars Valuable advice for the Caregiver 13 Feb. 2017

I attend the local Alzheimer's Project Support Group and have a wonderful leader (who's a Caregiver herself). On our last meeting, she read us a chapter from Hope for the Caregiver. What she read was a help to me, so I decided to look up the book on Amazon (they have the book available for $3.03 on their Kindle format and if you get Amazon's free version of Kindle, you'll be able to start reading the same day).
May you find help and encouragement, as well.
Update: I just finished the book. As a Caregiver I've had moments where I needed the wisdom and plain common sense the author's learned over the last 30 years of caring for his own wife. I am grateful that he put it down on paper.

Peter recommends attending/having 2 support groups. I was blessed to learn about a Closed Group on Facebook called Memory People (founded by Rick Phelps who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease in June of 2010 at the age of 57), while reading a review on Amazon. I highly recommend them, as well.

This is an excellent book of reality and hope for those caring for a loved one or family member. I facilitate a caregivers' group and bought copies of this book to give as gifts for our members. They found the book inspirational and real.
5.0 out of 5 stars Caregivers... this is for you! 5 Dec. 2016

Hope For the Caregiver is an exceptional book for anyone to read, but especially those who are caring for loved ones. The writer's own extensive experience with caregiving allows the reader to know that he has been where you are. It is insightfully written and offers encouragement, strength and hope. It's the best daily devotional out there for caregivers. As a psychotherapist I have offered it to my clients numerous times!
