Dangerous fault!

I bought this Hoover Carpet Washer a few years ago (April 2014). It worked well for the first 2 washes I did, getting a lot of dirt from my carpet. But now after using it recently for the 3rd time I found that the motor burnt out after a few minutes use. As it was out of it's guarantee (and with me being an electrician until I recently retired) I decided to take a look myself. I found that the rubber seal that goes around the cover, that houses the motor, was not fitted correctly, thus letting water into the motor compartment. This is a major manufacturing problem that blew the ring-main fuse in my house, but could have blown my arm off! A dangerous machine I would say. Do not buy Hoover!

We bought the most powerful model and it cleans ok and seems reasonably robust, though it has no attachments for furniture stairs etc. But (and a big but) it only sucks up about 30 percent of the fluid it puts down, so really most of the dirt is just going down into the underlay etc. From what I can find all these cheap cleaners do the same. Better to get in a professional machine that gets 90% back out if you want it really clean.

This is made to a price! How anyone can get the package material trapped in the machine I don't know! I never operated it - Hoover said there was no way I could - awful long wait on the telephone for Hoover to answer! Nice jug and funnel provided - so that you can get the cleaning water into the machine! - What a faff! I am going back to Bex Bissell for £10.00 more - I know that machine is easy operate and according to the reviews of this machine picks up lots more water!

Just used the Hoover carpet washer for the first time this morning. All I can say is brilliant!

We had considered replacing some of the carpets and then thought we would look at carpet cleaners as an option. We have the Hoover steam mop and are very pleased with this, so hoped the Hoover carpet washer would be as effective - pleased to say the results are fantastic and the product is so light and easy to use we could not be happier. It is a little noisy but when you consider what a good job it does, you soon forget the noise as you admire the clean carpet. It is very powerful and makes the brushes rotate very quickly to lift the dirt from the carpet - the carpet has an added 'spring' after the carpet washer has been over and our carpets really do look like new. Will try and post a picture when we do a different carpet downstairs.

It says in the manual to hoover the floor thoroughly before washing to remove any excess debris from the carpet - after using the hoover carpet washer I don't think much of my old dyson as the hoover lifted so much more off the carpet than the dyson. Think I will get a Hoover 'hoover' next!

What I really love is that this is a small carpet washer that has a brilliant handle design to make it fold down very small with just a click of a button. It also has a carry handle integrated once the main handle is folded down making it easy to carry about. It is small enough to fit in our lower kitchen cupboard when folded down which is great.

Comes with cleaning solution which smells nice!

All in all very easy to use and has done a great job. Will now lend this to the rest of the family!

i was searching for a steam cleaner. This came up under the heading steam cleaner but it is not. You put water in a tank, it doesn't heat up, you have to be careful how long you hold the button for as water pours out until you release. Not easy to use.

Good, light compact machine. Easy to store away. Cleaned the carpets quickly and well, pulling up a surprising amount of dog hair that my Hoover had failed to shift. Leaves the carpets still somewhat damp and some dirty water does like out from the tank into the base of the machine. Easy to fill and clean. Happy with my first experience of this type of machine.

First of all I tested it on the carpet in my home office where my dog can pee sometimes. The washed is very easy to use, handy, and does the job: smell is practically gone, carpet is clean. What is really impressive, how much old dust fluff it extracts from the carpet. On the negative side: it takes more that one back movement to collect back all the water. Usually you have to do it (slowly!) 3-4 times. In general - I would recomment it.
