I am a big fan of the slalom! The twist&steer makes vacuuming effortless and quicker.
I love the style of this hoover and it comes with a turbo tool which is good for stairs.
The stretch hose comes in handy and the vacuum never falls over while the hose is in use. plus you can turn the brush roll on/off with your foot for carpets/hardfloors.
I have another one stored away in its box for whenever my current one im using dies. I am a happy customer :)

This hoover is useless, bought it in february, now july, and it has broken. Will never buy a hoover make again. Just bought a bissell from a local shop where i live which was much cheaper than on amazon. The only trouble with the bissell is you have to screw the handle and cord storage on yourself. Its quite hard to screw them on.

I had high hopes for this machine having had a very positive experience with Hoover in the past. On the positive side Amazon delivered the machine very quickly, the suction is good and as a result the work can be finished rapidly (although not if you count the visit to doctors after). However, the design of the upright is such that the weight of the machine is carried by the arm not the base, resulting very quickly in sore wrist, sore forearm, sore shoulder and aching lower back. Frustratingly the tools simply do not stay attached to the
hose, the slalom action doesn't appear to help at all the old rigid machines being easier to operate. If I ever manage to get it back in its box I will apply for the Crypton factor. Hoover need to go back to their excellent old fashioned designs as the Hoover Senior and Hoover Junior which worked efiiciently for years and were truly labour saving .Very disappointing.

To slalom is to zigzag between obstacles. This vacuum cleaner is Khoroshilov.

So good, I bought another. I had the silver Slalom which broke. Jjust the spare parts would have cost me almost as much as the vacuum cleaner has... so why not? I loved my Slalom. The best upright vac I've ever had. Okay, it's heavy to carry. But I just need it for downstairs so no lugging it up the stairs and as I have wooden stairs, IDEAL. No hose needs extending (which is how my other one broke). Hopefully this one will last as long as my previous one did... 6 years. Hoover do the best vaccum cleaners and I wouldn't have any other brand. The hose needs replacing every 5-6 years but at £12 it isn't too bad. Mine broke in transit from moving house and too many pieces needed replacing.

Hoovering isn't something I worry about too much - the thing sits there doing nowt all week and when I drag it out for its 1 hour trip round the home on sunday morning it should just work.

First trip round it was fine. Second probably was OK as well. But then this sorry excuse for a 'hoover' just started falling to bits. First the button you press to release the handle (so you can use attachements) broke, I had to resort to using my thumbnail to press the mechanism inside. Shoddy but I could live with that.

Next the long attachment thingy cracked at the end where it plugs in. That I fixed with selotape. Shoddy again but I could live with that.

Next the plastic bits that lock the handle in place so the hoover will stand on its own broke. That meant the hoover would topple over if left alone (so you cant use the attachments without lying the thing down). Again not the end of the world but annoying. The fact these bits were broke also meant the brushbar did not turn off when using the attachments.

Next the plastic bit that covers the air outlet filter broke off, meaning the hoover sprayed out as much dust as it picked up - using it became purely a psycological gesture as it didn't actually clean anything up anymore.

The death of the machine was when the flexible rubber hose between the base and the upright (the bit that makes it 'slalom') started to split. I fixed it with duct tape and limped through a month or so but it finally split clean in two yesterday.

I should emphasise I live in a 2 bed semi and literally use this thing for an hour a week and it didn't even last 6 months - incredibly disapointed. The build quality is awful, the plastic cheap, the design flawed and generally just a rubbish piece of kit. I cant take it back to argos where it came from as I have lost the receipt etc. and cant be bothered with the arguments.

Bit the bullet and bought the dyson dc14 this morning (again from argos stupidly as its £20 cheaper on amazon!)- cant comment on longevity but very impressed by its first outing. My mum has had one for about 2 years and has had no problems with hers so fingers crossed.
