Product description

Review

'Caroline Lucas is one of the world's bravest and most principled politicians' -- Naomi Klein

'Where there is Caroline Lucas, there is hope. For the past five years hers has been almost a lone voice of sense and vision in a political system that has been captured and crushed by a cold-hearted elite. She has done so much that you could be forgiven for believing there were twenty Green MPs in parliament, not just one. I wish there were. And perhaps before long there will be' -- George Monbiot

'Having spent a lot of time in the House of Commons in the last year, all I can say is that Caroline Lucas is exactly what you would hope an MP to be. She's honest, truthful, always in pursuit of fairness, never motivated by self-interest. She's a wonderful MP. We need more like her' -- Brian May

'You could read Lucas's book as an effective summary of key debates on the UK's future. But even more powerfully, it opens the door on a political past we are condemned to live with and sniffs the stale air of an institution to where we outsource our democracy. Stepping back, it is not Lucas who looks all alone in Westminster but Westminster that looks odd and out of place in the world. Far from hanging up swords, you suspect that, by the end of the book, many more readers will want to take up theirs to campaign for change' --Guardian

'Timely... Thoughtful and straight-talking; anecdotal and highly readable' -- New Internationalist

'A wonderfully refreshing and empowering read' -- Morning Star

'What's wrong with Westminster? Quite a lot according to sole Green MP Caroline Lucas who outlines in detail Parliament's various inefficiencies, voting vagaries, and resistance to reform in this wide-reaching insider's view of government. Conclusion? Change is desperately needed' --Diva Magazine

'A wonderfully refreshing and empowering read'

'This account of Caroline Lucas's experiences in Westminster reads like the field journal of an incredulous anthropologist stumbling on an unusual tribe...You could read Lucas's book as an effective summary of key debates on the UK's future. But even more powerfully, it opens the door on a political past we are condemned to live with and sniffs the stale air of an institution to which we outsource our democracy. Stepping back, it is not Lucas who looks all along in Westminster but Westminster that looks odd and out of place in the world.' - Andrew Simms, The Guardian --Morning Star
