Product Description

Released in 2012. Walter Parks is headlining. He was written all the songs, and it's his rough vocals style that's most prominent throughout. Blues roots music. Although recorded in Florida, the music sounds very Mississippi, influenced by the North Hill guys and also jam bands like the N.M.A.S. Excellent. - Green packaging. WALTER PARKS - gtrs/bjo/voc, MATT LINDSEY - bass, JAGODA - drums.

Format: Audio CD
Walter Parks is the leader, guitarist and songwriter-in-chief for Swamp Cabbage - he's also been Richie Havens' guitarist of choice for several years now. Standing well over six feet tall, Walter looks like a moustachioed Confederate general, but plays some stylish, positively lethal lead guitar, a bit like Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, but also capable of introducing some pleasingly Country-ish finger picking into the mix, too. 'Honk' is a party hearty, boasting one stone classic (at least), in the shape of 'More Booty With Buddha', a hilarious tale of using the pulling power of Buddha in a romantic situation. Parks sings in a lowdown, Tom Waits-ish growl, and his aimiable confreres in Swamp Cabbage, namely Matt Lindsey (Bass) and Jagoda (drums) whip up a storm behind him.

Tremendous, bluesy swamp-rock is the order of the day, and it sounds just fine to me. Check it out.
